Great book and quick delivery

Ok so first up - I am a Labrador superfan- so from the outset this book could just have a series of photos with Olive's and Mabel's paw prints on every page and I would have been more than happy... but hold on... this book is so much more!It isn't just a book about dogs ( though if you are a 'dog person' you'll love it) it is a heartwarming, life-affirming piece of work about goodness and the beneficial connection between humans, animals and the natural world. The book explores many things - such as their adventures being blasted by the elements high upon mountain tops to the perils of negotiating the uneven flooring in an Outdoor Clothing store ( which sounds mundane but if you have a Lab you'll know their quirky ways!)Cotter writes with humility, good humour and integrity. Above all, he respects his canine companions without trying to make them into substitute humans. He lets them shine and the relationship between them is uplifting and heart warming. The humour is goodnatured and not snarky or cynical - a perfect antidote to the mess of modern times.Would enjoy reading more from Mr Cotter and it is obvious his writing talents could stretch to other works and genres as he does subtly draw out some universal truths in this work, not in an obvious way, but with a humble and generous style.'Olive, Mabel and Me' - here's to more of their adventures as Two Very Good Dogs with their Very Good Human companion!

Having accidentally stumbled upon the earlier Olive and Mabel videos I was very curious to read this book. It did not disappoint. I usually struggle with none fiction books. I manage the first few chapters with great gusto then put the book down never to return. This book was a very different none fiction experience. I couldn't put it down. I read most of it in one day. It made me laugh out loud, it made me want to climb mountains in Scotland. Fortunately I know both Formby and Crosby beaches very well. I feel I know Olive and Mabel's personalities so much more now and will need to give the videos another watch with this in mind. In my next life I want to come back as one of Andrew Cotter's dogs. They have a fantastic time and are clearly well looked after and adored. As someone giving considerable thought to getting a four legged companion myself, this was an invaluable read. I read this during a not so great time in my life and it was just the tonic I needed. So thank you Andrew and please please keep up this fantastic sideline.

I read this, mostly, snuggled with my male version of Olive on the sofa. I nodded, smiled and patted my boy's head an awful lot as I read. Mr Cotter has a wonderful way with words, and his assessment of his, and our, relationships with our very best friends was absolutely spot on. I could never express myself as eloquently as he does but I agree with everything he says. Aside from the observations on human/dog love, his adventures with his very good dogs in the Bens, Coires and Munros of his beloved Scotland were wonderful.A joy from first to last. And for once I read the acknowledgments (they were nice and short) only to discover that Mabel's Dad was called Rocky, my beloved boy's name. It was meant to be and left me with a full heart as I closed the cover!

Not only a great read but very responsible advice about choosing and buying a puppy. If anyone’s thinking of getting a dog. I recommend you read the book, especially chapters 11 & 12 and take notes

How on earth do you write a book about two good dogs? Especially when expectations and hopes will be so high for those of us who love the videos and cannot imagine how all this fun will translate to the printed page. Well, I don't know how Andrew Cotter has done it, but this book is a triumph. Not just funny and touching - poor Mabel who, if a tick burrowed into her head, it would simply come out the other side because there's nothing in the way - but a real love story. Man and dog/s in perfect harmony. Which makes it sound sentimental: it isn't. It really isn't. It's just a wonderful read. Buy it, buy it, buy it. I have - four times. Always in hardback. So worth the money and a fabulous gift.

Easy read, very entertaining

I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled to do so after reading this beautiful book. Whether you are a dog lover or not I’m sure you will enjoy the exploits of Olive and Mabel. Andrew has written it beautifully and makes for very easy reading. I read it whilst on holiday and there were many laugh out loud moments. It made me appreciate my own dog just that little bit more on my return. Thank you Andrew Cotter for putting pen to paper and coming up with this best seller. I’ve since watched all the videos which are just excellent as well and well worth a watch.

I first saw the videos of Olive and Mabel like many others and then read the book. If you love dogs, and even if you don’t, you will find this book reminds you of all that is good, and kind and innocent in this world when you have dogs to share the journey with you. This book is funny, moving, insightful and relatable all at once. I loved it from start to end and I hope Mr Cotter writes more books. He has a gift and Olive and Mabel are the vehicles of his craft. And I hope to hear more about his dogs.

I love this book!! Not only is it a wonderful, funny, sometimes serious look at the relationship Andrew Cotter has with his two dogs, references in the book to on line sites led me to some absolutely beautiful scenery in Scotland along with the live action of Olive and Mabel having great fun in that scenery.The book is also a bit autobiographical, with stories of other parts of Andrew's life.But the most beautiful part of the book is the obvious love between him and his two "good dogs" - very heartwarming!
