Simple and effective
Great little product. There's lots of gimmicks out there for spooling fishing line on a reel but this one is simple, fairly priced and very effective. This would be the perfect thing to take on vacation and just clamp it to a picnic table, spool up and hit the water!

a nice addition to any angler's arsenal
I ordered mine on 4/10 and it arrived ONE DAY LATER !!. I added new line to 8 casting and spinning reels. Forger about the spoolers using a suction cup, they come loose. This one uses a clamp and I attached mine to a folding table leaf. The spooler itself screws into the clamp and has a nut to tighten with a 9/16 wrench. Everything worked fine. I did learn that when using either mono or fluoro that tightening the line spool a bit tighter helped to avoid line overruns. Braided line is easy as pie. Couple of hints for those who might be unaware: have the line come over the top of the spool when adding to a casting reel while having the line come off the bottom of the spool with spinning reels. This minimizes line twist while respooling. New line should always be run into the water ( no lures attached ) by boaters. Shore fishermen can add a heavy nut to the line and run it on dry land prior to reeling. When using spinning reels I learned many years ago from a pro angler to never close the bail with the reel handle as this adds a bit of twist to the line. Close the bail by hand. In closing this is a neat tool at very low cost so you won't need a buddy holding the spool and a pencil.

NEARLY PERFECT
Okay, hear me out. Finally, I have found a line spooler that applies a consistently smooth amount of just enough tension while spooling. Do I wish it could be a little bit tighter? Yes. I think if they make the two stoppers at each end a bit more snug against the metal holder, it would be perfect. Also, because of the spring tension that you need to apply to get a snug spool, the springs dig in a bit to the rubber?/plastic? stoppers and start to grind into them a bit, leaving a groove in the stoppers, and a little plastic-y mess. Regardless, it is easy to use, easy to install, fits all spool sizes that I’ve used, and I would certainly buy it again. In addition, the drill attachment to unspool reels is the real surprise of this package. Unspooling reels to flip my line around has never been easier. I love it. My only suggestion is to either 1. Supply additional “stoppers” as they might wear down over time from tension from the springs, or/and 2. Make the stoppers fit a little more snugly on the metal.

Well made and easy to use. Save money by DIY.
I was tired of paying our local tackle shop to spool our various fishing reels as they charge more for the braided line they carry vs Amazon prices and they of course charge a small fee for doing the work. This tool is super affordable and well constructed. Made from machined metal it should last a lifetime if you’re not using it professionally. I used it for the first time without issue. A couple of things I learned while using it for the first time: make sure you have a good amount of tension/pinch on your spool of fishing line. Not so tight where it can’t spin freely, but enough where the spool won’t wobble in the tool. Also make sure when you’re holding your fishing reel and reeling in new line off the spool to keep the reel parallel to the floor. If your tilt the reel up or down while reeling it won’t spool as well and you may end up with a slightly cone shaped spool of line. I’ll be using this with our 7 foot pole spinning reels and heavier 9 foot surf pole spinning reels.
