Fantastic Music From NFL'S Autumn Thunder
I've watched and listened to football for about 50 years. First my dad and I would watch NFL games and then my son and I would watch. We all loved every minute of the action. Then we would all watch the highlights on This Week In The NFL--HBO mostly. BUT--what stood out to all of us was the MUSIC!! It made you want to go out in the street and have a "pick-up' game with all the neighbors. I always wondered how I could record this super music without the voices---although we loved those voices too!! The music sends chills down your spine!! It's amazing what any music can do in movies or television---but football really shines with music. This 10 Disc Set is so Fantastic------------that no fan of football should be without! It will send chills down your spine and invoke memories of the past---60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. You will picture your favorite NFL team scoring an upset---with the music used in the highlight films! Now when I drive down the road with these CDs----certain tracks prompt max volume----sometimes I wish I had one of those BOOM Stereo sytems for these CDs. And since I am a mobile Disc Jockey---I'm going to crank up some tracks prior to my next gig!!Discs 1 through 7 are by far the best!! Sam Spence is trully the master of NFL Action!! There are almost 200 tracks---and you will remember many many tunes!! What memories!! Discs 8 through 10 are OK---but not near the sound of Sam Spence. I made two favorites CDs for myself---maybe you can too!! But certainly purchase this SET--------------what a GEM!! You won't be sorry!!

AWESOME PRODUCT
I bought this CD set a few years ago. It is INCREDIBLE. If you have any memories of watching NFL Films Highlights from the 60s through the 80's and remember Pat Summerall or John Facenda describing NFL Grid Iron action then you recall the great instrumental music in the background. These CD's are that music. I can't tell you how many of the recordings took me back to my youth in the 1970's when I would be riveted to the TV watching the lone weekly 30 minute highlight show of the previous weeks action. As you recall it wasn't wall to wall Football back then. No 90 minute ESPN Highlight show 24-7. You'd have a 30 minute highlight show Sunday before the early game showing the key games from the previous week, or maybe the half hour game of the week. Anyway these discs are GREAT. And if your to young to remember those NFL Films, the music is still awe inspiring to listen to. If you are an NFL Fan dating back to the 1960-70-80's you'll love this trip back in time. Each disc is anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes in length. A GREAT VALUE, I listen to these CD's regularly especially during Football season.

What a Fabulous Collection!!!
This music has been my favorite since the early 70's. No other music seems to move me as this fine collection does!! Some of my favorites include: The Happy Runner, Happy March, Street Warfare, The Raiders, Action Ride to name a few. Every time I hear this music, you can't help but visualize football highlights from NFL Films. This is the era when football was fun to watch. You lived and died each week depending on what your favorite team did. The football highlights that are available from NFL Films along with this fine music keeps the wonderful memories alive. It's a shame it took this long to release this music, but was worth the wait. There are still some fine tunes still missing from the early 70's that I hope will be released some time soon. I would have given this review 5 stars had these other tunes been included. Let's get these other fine songs released to complete this awesome collection. This music my Sam Spence is priceless!! The other composers are good in their own right, but Spence is King.UPDATE-----most of the tunes I was looking for were not by Sam Spence but William Loose. You can hear them on youtube. Too bad these were not released over the years. However, I now have them on my computer and on cd , can enjoy them at home and in my car.

The Music Captures the Drama of the NFL
(INSERT MUSIC HERE) ANNCR: It's 4th and long and time is running out. Blood smears have mixed in with the mud and grass stains leaving the uniforms of each team difficult to tell apart. The bitter cold has turned the field into a playing surface not unlike concrete. 22 columns of breath form and disappear at a rapid pace before each helmet. With the game on the line, they go for it.Read this over the music on this CD set and you'll feel like a pro NFL Films announcer. Great music! Fantastic Collection.

A brilliant collection
Even if you're not familiar with American football, the NFL or NFL Films, the music on this amazing and brilliant collection is exceedingly listenable and enjoyable. Essentially, this is what they call "library music" - music you hear in adverts, films and tv series, composed or performed for the purpose of use in the background or for commercial purposes. There are many fine collections out there already - the music often jazzy or funky. Some of it is undoubtedly cheesy but much of the music rivals the best. Session players are not to be doubted for their ability to be passionate, soulful and spirited. The music contained on "Autumn Thunder" - all 10 CDs of it - soundtracked the many highlight films and documentaries made by NFL Film, a division of the National Football League devoted specially to filming games on proper film rather than video and which boasts a huge archive of historic game footage. This collection is dominated by the compositions of Sam Spence, who provided an astonishing range of music in the 60s and 70s. Spence was an American who experimented a lot with electronic music and spent many years working in West Germany. In the 80s and 90s, two other composers came to the forefront, Tom Hedden and Dave Robidoux. While Sam Spence's music is the most colourful and vibrant, Hedden and Robidoux also contributed many evocative tunes. Other composers did contribute, such as William Loose, but alas this collection only features the work of Spence, Hedden and Robidoux. There is a website devoted to the NFL's extensive library of music and other highlights can be heard on You Tube. Sadly, "Autumn Thunder" is a now rare collection and hard to find for a decent price. I managed to purchase it for £50 from Amazon - it was brand new and beautifully packaged. There are 10 CDs in total so I really did get a great deal. If you can find it for under £80 I would highly recommend getting this collection.

The music that mattered in remembering the best era of the NFL
Anyone who watched NFL Football in the late 1960s and early 1970s will vividly and viscerally remember this music from NFL Films. Every Saturday there were two television shows every football fan never missed. "This Week in the NFL" a one hour program with highlights of all the games and "NFL Game of the Week" a 30 minute program focusing on complete highlights of a single "best" game from the week before. NFL Films captured it all on actual film in the days before saturation HD video coverage of every game on every channel instantly available. Each week the game films were edited, narrated, and put to music in a way that each game was reviewed like a story with heroes and villains, gladiators, artists, jesters brought to life as football players with high drama, tremendous victory and triumph and crushing defeat - and always with the combatants treated as noble warriors giving their all to the game. Probably the single biggest factor that made NFL the biggest sporting event in America is owed to NFL Films, these two television programs and this music. Without this music and the voice of John Facenda and later Harry Calas the NFL would not have captured the hearts and souls of America. All this music will stir deep memories of these times and you can literally visualize the slow motion of the long bomb, the circus catch, the crushing tackles, the graceful running backs, the quarterback, the coach, the winning plays, the resolution of a contest, the anticipation of the big game - this music is as strong a memory stimulation as any smell or familiar sight might trigger such memories. This era of the very best NFL has ever been is never coming back. But to those who saw it and loved it and remember it, this music will resurrect it all in the mind's eye and ear.

買って良かった!残り一個!
先に The Power And The Glory: The Original Music & Voices Of NFL Films を購入してみてこれはSam Spence の楽曲から良い感じの曲をチョイスしていたのでこれだけでも結構満足でしたが、旧「THE・NFL HOUR」のファンとしてはオープニングとエンディングに流れたマーチが入っていなかったのが残念なのとこの際、他の曲も一気に集めてみようと思って購入しましたオープニングとエンディングに流れたマーチは「March to the Trenches」という曲でちゃんと収録されていますその他に The Power And The Glory では「The Raiders」のイントロがカットされていますけどAutumn Thunder では、ちゃんとイントロから収録されていますThe Power And The Glory の「Cossacks Charge」では、間奏のバラライカ演奏がカットされていますけどAutumn Thunder では「The Path to the Title」というタイトルの完全版が収録されています特に意外だと思ったのがThe Power And The Glory の「The Championship Chase」の完全版だと思われるAutumn Thunder の「A Chilling Championship」が、曲の印象まで変わっているのが、すごいと思いましたちなみに一枚目から七枚目の途中までが Sam Spence で、残りを Tom Hedden と David Robidoux が半々くらいで作っています個人的に Tom Hedden は、ちょっと退屈な感じですが David Robidoux は最近のハリウッド映画に通じる感じの曲で、割と恰好良いですあと、意外とドライブの相性が有るのでPCで聞く方は注意してくださいまず、ウチのタワー型に搭載しているパイオニア製で音飛びが発生したのでI・O DATA のUSB接続のBDドライブで試したら、同じように音飛びが発生して最後に Logitec のUSB接続のDVDドライブで試したら、ようやく普通に聞けましたamazonでは、残念ながら曲の試聴は出来ませんけどallmusic.com と言うサイトでイントロ試聴が出来ますこちらにリンクは貼れませんけどグーグルに Autumn Thunder: 40 Years NFL Films Music と入れれば多分、一番上に出ると思うので利用してみてくださいその他でしたら youtube に、結構上がっているのでその辺をチェックしてみて、納得行けば購入するのも良いと思います。
