Local Woman Missing: TikTok made me buy it! An addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist, for 2023

Had me right from the get go, compelling and hard to put down. Enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the end. I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.

The title intrigued me.Eleven years ago, Meredith and her daughter (Delilah) go missing after leaving her son, Leo at a sitter’s house. Josh, husband and father returned home to find she’s left.The neighbours are shocked and a search takes place. There is another woman in the neighbourhood who has also gone missing. Are they connected in any way?Bea and Kate are good friends and reach out to help search for Meredith and Delilah.In the meantime a body is discovered, which is not Meredith’s.We are brought into the present day and Delilah returns on her own, stating she’s escaped from her kidnappers, but Leo now 11 years older doesn’t believe it’s his sister.The novel is written from the eyes of Meredith, 11 years ago, Leo in the present day and Kate the neighbour.It had you wondering from the start of what happened to Meredith and the tension builds. Is she being followed and her job as a kind of midwife takes her away from her family all hours of the day and night.I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author. Would have got 5* but I felt the first part was difficult to read (written through the eyes of a young girl).

Loved this book, easy to follow but kept you gripped the whole time. One of the best books iv ever read

The book was an interesting read, I agree with another reader who described the side stories in the book as going nowhere, some were just irrelevant. Admittedly good plot twists, however was easy to start guessing after that initial plot twist. Would recommend.

Loved the female voices in this novel. Characters are original and the author avoids stereotypes. Great connections across the narrative and surprising twists.

Storyline kept me reading.Not too keen on how you have to remember who people are when it goes back 11 years then to now, probably because I haven't read a book like it before.Surprise ending,would recommend.

I absolutely hated the first chapter of this, the awful suffering that was happening to the kidnapped child was horrible to read, so much so that I nearly stopped reading to choose another book. But then I decided to just skim read it to see if it got better and I’m really glad I did. Once you get past that, the plot - told from multiple view points and timescales - twists and turns and hooks you in. Brilliant story.

one of my favourite books. couldn’t put it down. just read this book, you’ll love it. twists and turns from start to finish, wonderfully written. i cried, i yelled. this book was amazing

El libro ha llegado con pegamento y papel pegado en la parte de atrás, al quitárselo se ha dañado el libro. Horrible.The book came with something sticky on the back and cardboard stack to it, when I wiped it off the paper got damaged. Sincerely disappointed.

This book will get you out of any reading slump. The twists are spectacular! Definitely one of the best thrillers I‘ve read this year.
