The tradition of carving jewelry from these existing materials were borne our of creativity and the cultural disinclination for wasted parts/materials. Doing this helps maintain the color of the wood. Do not leave in water or direct sunlight. Do not soak. It is not recommended to do any strenuous activity that may put pressure on the piece - breaking is a serious possibility.
