Creative Writing Skills

Having done 11+ with three kids over 10 years I’ve seen a lot of books aimed at creative writing. This one is by far the best on the market. The problem with many of the others is that they just give a ideas or a few examples without actually teaching, or giving the child building blocks. Writing isn't like riding a bike that you can just expect the child to get on with it. I would definitely recommend this book. Some great simple tips and concepts are broken down in a simple way for a 10 year old to understand.

This book is simply the best resource any child (or parent) could wish for. Covering everything from sentence structure/sentence starters to how to introduce drama and suspense, it is literally a ‘must’ for every child wanting to better themselves.The layout is clear and the exercises are fun.I couldn’t recommend this book highly enough.

I have been teaching (and tutoring) for almost 30 years and have a plethora of teaching resources of which Bright Light Education's Creative Writing Skills book stands head and shoulders above the rest. So much of it either reflects or embellishes what I do with my students and many have bought the resource on my recommendation.

Having explored the various resources and materials available around to help my kids to improve upon their writing skills, I would say this is simply one of the best resources out there.The book introduces some of the key methodology and tools required to write good quality pieces.Having shopped around and tried various books, none of them provide such a structured way to teach the techniques around creative writing like this book does within the KS2 age group.The book may seem a bit thin but it is a power-packed resource which addresses this topic in such a friendly way which makes the learning fun. For someone trying to improve their writing skills, this is an absolutely brilliant resource and highly recommended.

We found this book so helpful in preparing our daughter for her 11+. It’s really well laid out with lots of fun and interesting exercises which she really enjoyed doing - I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to get their kids writing stories.

This is an essential teaching guide and activity workbook. My girls loved using it and their creative writing skills have improved beyond my hopes. The stories my girls can now write are amazing. This is going to really help them in developing their language skills which I hope will stand them in good stead as they go into secondary education.

My partner and I have just started preparing our eldest daughter for the 11+ and this book has been far and away the best we have used, across any subject.The book is cleverly organised into bitesize sections which really helped us structure our sessions. We also really appreciated how well written it was, making it easy for my daughter to pick up new concepts.
