Hutzler Cheese Saver

This is my dad's favorite food container. He used to store his cheese in a plastic bag until I got him this box as a gift, and now he won't go back. He goes through a lot of cheese, so the cheese stays in this box for maybe a week or two, and there are no issues with mold or drying out.

......from molding or drying out. Place a damp paper towel under the elevated plate. i would imagine that how damp you keep the paper towel will adjust the dryness of the cheese. I used to keep my block of cheese in the plastic container and that in a plastic freezer bag. It always got moldy before I finished the block. I haven't had this too, too long, but so far, I am impressed. Before, the block got damp and kind of mushy. now it stays like when I opened it. I intend to experiment with how damp I keep the towel. Especially with different types of cheese. When I first got this, I had a chunk about 2"x 2" and I just left it in my new toy for 2 days to see how it would work. I was really pleased with the result. The small piece of semi soggy cheese dried up a bit. It was actually better than when I placed it in there. I notice many people wonder how big a block it will hold. I bought a 2 pound block of Tillamook. I had to cut off about 1 inch on one end. I was disappointed to learn that I next needed to also slice off about 3/8 of an inch off the top, which wasn't so easy. Luckily there are no points for neatness, cause it looks ugly on top. I am wondering if when they planned this, they forgot to add extra height for the paper towel and tray the cheese sits on. Anyway, I took off a star for poor planning in that respect. If not for that, definitely 5 stars. I like my cheese. Who doesn't , right? I'm about to order another (maybe two) as I enjoy having more than one kind of cheese on hand. Cheddar and pepper jack for crackers and such, and real American (land-O-Lakes. Not the processed imitation kind made with oil) for burgers and garden salads.

I put some cheese in this and while there was no mold, the cheese was dried out. The sides don't really seal well. Out of the box it was little bent along the one long side, and I suspect that's why it dried the cheese out. But there was no mold ... Meh. Rather cheap plastic and much too big (high) for a normal block of cheese from the grocery store. Disappointed, but it didn't cost much, so ... lesson learned.

I have had this overpriced thin plastic box for a week or so. The lid will not say on, it doesn't seal in any way, form or fashion. The plastic is so thin and flimsy, you can almost see through it. I do believe this is the sorriest peace of junk that I have ever purchased, for 14 dollars. You best heed my true advise that I am giving you, want a cheese keeper, get something else that you can actually look at before buying. It is just about as useful as a " screen door on a submarine " . I threw it in the trash today...

This seems to be a unique product. No other food keeper has the feature of a space to put a wet paper towel. It really keeps cheese fresh and the box is large enough to hold more than one piece of cheese. Completely satisfied.

We've tried for years to find a way to keep cheese from molding, since we like cheese but don't eat it that fast and as a consequence it invariably gets moldy. Yuck. Especially those big blocks of sharp cheddar cheese. You come back a month or so later and its all covered with mold, so you have to wash it, get out the slicer and cut off all the bad parts and so on. You lose a lot and its a grody business. I got this cheese box on a whim since my wife requested kitchen gadgets for Xmas. I was browsing and ran across this; thought it was funky, since it looks like a chunk of Swiss cheese, somewhat stylized, of course. Anyway, you put the cheese in there with a damp folded paper towel, as per the included instructions, and what do you know? You go back a few weeks later and there's the cheese without a spot of mold on it! Amazing. Now, 4 months later, I noticed a little mold on the inside of the box, but still none on the cheese. I figure its not a bad deal is all you do is wash it out and change the paper towel every four months!

Muy buen producto. Es de plástico resistente. El diseño se ve más bonito que en la fotografía. Caben 500 gr de queso rebanado. Perfecto para el quedó panela. No es hermético pero cierra perfectamente.

I love cheese and actually own a few cheese storage containers... After going away for 3 weeks, this one definitely kept my hard cheese in the best state! It has a little tray inside with the idea that you store a slightly moist piece of paper towel underneath it to keep the cheese from drying out. Seems to work! Pros: Keeps cheese better than other containers.. The box easily fits anywhere in fridge. Cons: The size is a little off... I find the box too narrow for some cheeses and it’s a little too small overall. Also, it would be nice to have a clear plastic lid to be able to look inside. Otherwise I highly recommend it... much better than cheese storage bags or plastic!

I like this cheese saver container. It's convenient and cute. Of course it won't hold a big chunk of cheese. It's for smaller amounts of cheese. I think up to 500 grams, but it does keep cheese fresh and tasty.

It fits by block Of Balderson cheese perfectly. I have not had any cheese spoil..stores nicely in the refrigerator..
