For this year's Thanksgiving I smoked a 35 lb turkey. Yeah, you read that right. The original smoke temperature gauge had seen better days and was due for replacement. This gauge has a bigger dial and much easier to read that the original. The stainless clip makes for a near instantaneous installation. I also use a super accurate digital temperature controller and this gauge matched identically to the digital temperature. Smokers are designed for low and slow cooking and temperature matters a lot. If you are passionate about great food and like to wow your friends you have to keep the temperature right and this will do the trick. You put a $15 to $100 piece of meat on your grill or smoker and put it at risk to over or under cooking with an inaccurate gauge. Step up just a little and get an accurate gauge like this one. PS - The turkey came out amazing.

I haven’t actually used it yet, but have installed it into my BGE. Fits great. Love the size of the absolutely huge dial! The rubber gasket is a very nice touch. No doubt this will last a long time. Definitely higher quality than original BGE piece. I can’t give a 5 star review wo a longevity test. Will update in 12 months.

My original BGE temperature gauge lived a nice life but over time the glass fogged up and the red needle's color faded into the sunset. Made it impossible to see anything unless I was up close.I replaced it with this Smokeware product and so glad I did. The 3 inch dial is easy to see from a distance. I typically turn the temp gauge on the lid of my BGE so that my desired temp is sitting at the 12 o'clock position. I can easily see when the needle is pointing straight up.Update August 9, 2018 - If I could make this a 6 star rating I would. Long story short, the unit I purchased in 2017 stopped reflecting the proper temperature inside my egg this year. All my cooking times were being thrown way off. On the unit I had purchased, I could not re-calibrate. I emailed Smokeware and was surprised how quickly they got back to me. I answered a question and sent them a picture of my thermometer. They determined the unit had failed and promptly sent me back a replacement that is able to be re-calibrated. I was so impressed with the customer service received.

My son asked for one of these for Christmas to use on his Big Green Egg. When I reviewed the thermometer online, I decided I wanted one for my BGE. I installed my right after Christmas and have already used it four times. It appears to be fairly accurate, but best of all, I can read it from a distance., unlike the thermometer that came with my BGE. It was easy to install.

Much better visibility and precision than the OEM thermometer for the Big Green Egg. I calibrated the unit before using and it was already reading perfectly. The response to temp changes is very quick and it is large enough and has enough contrast that I can monitor it through the kitchen window. Smokeware makes some of the highest quality accessories available for the egg and this was a quick and inexpensive improvement to the cooker. Would recommend to any serious egg owners.

I chose this one so as not to have (in USA) a useless Centigrade scale confusing the read. I did adjust the dial to 212 F. boiling water a pliers, noThe ribs were perfect!

It was about 40 degrees off out of the box but it is very simple to calibrate. My old eyes are enjoying the larger dial.

Excellent works like a charm, well actually it works like a temperature gauge should. The color coated temp ranges allow me to quickly check the temperature from the window or on the other side of the deck. You will not be disappointed
