Accuon Digital Programmed Instant-read Cooking Thermometer with Probe

I don't really like the pre-programmed settings, I know what temp I want my various meats cooked. But looking to replace an older model (different brand) this looked like a good choice. Although you can program a custom setting, I set it once and after several uses it got lost somehow. When I'm starting to cook, it seems too much trouble to look up the instructions to program it again. I could get over that, however, if it was at least accurate. It always reads much higher than it should, requiring multiple testing with a second thermometer or the old-fashioned method of just slicing into the meat. I will allow 2 stars, because at least I can set the alert to tell me that things are almost done, and to start checking it. But I'll be looking to replace this real soon.

After less than a week the thermometer strated switching between "Lo" and temperature reading frequently. Turns out that the probe plug contact to the thermometer wasn't good. I could not count on the thermometer to show the temperature or sound the alarm on time. Didn't have the motivation to send back and ask for replacement and just threw it to the garbage.Bottom line: low quality, stay away.

I bought this to use with my la caja China box, for roasting a pig... It worked perfectly! The cable was long enough to insert into the pig while it was in the box, the temperature read accurately, the meat was cooked to perfection. The digital reading was great and the thermometer was easy to use. I would definitely purchase this again in the future! I was given a discount in exchange for my honest opinion. I give this product 5 stars!
