A must have book for Metallica fans!
Bought this for my nephew who taught himself to play guitar listening to Metallica...he went nuts when he opened the book. Book is exactly as described by the seller. Came wrapped in protective cellophane cover, was shipped quickly. I would buy from this seller again.

Très bon livre mais malheureusement les livreurs ne prennent pas beaucoup soin des cartons et les coins du livre sont abîmés.

Now, if you’re a rock fan of a certain vintage then Mr Halfin has probably been the visual documenter in chief of your rock story to date. That story will no doubt include Metallica where he has been pretty much an ever present since 1984. Who can forget that session he did with the Chinese takeaway strewn all over the kitchen table! Thankfully he wasn’t around too much during the Load - St Anger period where the band lost their way image wise by trying to be something they simply weren’t despite Lars & Kirk trying to pretend otherwise! Anyway, does this book match the hype that accompanied the 30th anniversary of Black album…. Sadly, the answer for me is an affirmative NO! Yes, there are some good pics contained within the covers, but too many of them are ones you’ve already seen before, and some are to be honest quite poor in terms of how they appear in print. As much as I admire Halfin’s work, not only as a band portrait/ live photographer, but also as a travel photographer there is no escaping the fact that sadly this book feels like something of a let down on so many levels. As the title of this review suggests Back To The Front for me worked so much better as part of the Master anniversary and I say that whilst taking into account the difference behind the intentions of both books. If you’re thinking of buying it then my advice would be to nip down to your local bookshop first and have a cheeky flick through the pages before deciding whether or not to part with your cash. Sorry Ross!
