The Magic Kingdom of Landover Volume 2 (Magic Kingdom of Landover Bundle)

I have really enjoyed Terry Brooks for many years. I recently re-read the previous installments of the Landover series and decided that I would add this one as well. It fits right in with the other books, but (as is often the case) isn't as strong as the first book in the series, Kingdom for Sale - Sold.But, setting that aside, it is a great story. I have had a long relationship with many of the characters, so that gave the book a head start. I was already familiar with the backstory... so the "catch-up" for new readers did drag me down a little... but then things picked back up and the new characters brought new life into the series. I would certainly recommend it for any Terry Brooks or Landover fans.

I loved these two books. The character development, to me, was very nice as we get to know more about how the characters feel and what exactly motivates them. I'm not one to make a spoilerish review, but if you liked the first volume of The Magic Kingdom of Landover or you read the first 3 books separaely, I'd suggest you get this one if you liked those. There were only two things that bothered me about this omnibus. The first was the lack of chapter demarcations. I suppose there's no provision in the conversion software to do this for an omnibus, but I wish there had been. The second thing was a pet peeve of mine, that being word choice. Perhaps it is because this series is of a fantasy nature, but I really hate the word "without" being used to replace the word "outside" or "out there" or "in the next room" or any other mention of a different location close to where people are now where something else is happening. I can't wait to read The Princess of Landover next.

I think "The Tanglewood Box" may be the best Landover story besides the original.

Although I would not consider myself a fantasy buff, I find The Kingdom of Landover series fascinating. After reading volume I I couldn't wait to get the second and it did not disappoint. I was so glad to find it in book format.

Book arrived in condition as described & well within shipping time frame. Haven't read the book yet. Including copyright or original print date in description would help with timeline in authors writing of books/series would help to establish whether I may have read a book or not - I have bought some books more than once, thinking it was a more recent book in a series, covers change as do companies that print books. Also amazon.com could add to all their "look inside" link to a book either the back cover or the inside flaps (on hard covers), for a brief synopsis of the book, another way of help to establish whether I may have read it before or not.

There was some violence but is was definitely less than you would normally find even in a Saturday morning cartoon. I would consider the first two books in the series as all age appropriate. The later books become a bit more mature but would still consider them appropriate for children in middle school and above.In this continuation of the Landover series there is a bit more conflict than in the Magic Kingdom: For Sale/Sold. You now have some of the more evil elements appear and the reasons for Landover being in its condition.

I just recently starting reading Terry Brooks. This was my last series. Even though it seems to be for a younger audience it was a good read. But I will stick to the other great titles of his. The Magic Kingdom of Landover series kept you wanting more and not ending. I did cry when losing a charachter and laughed out loud at the funny parts and was impressed at the seriousness of each occurance. Again, good read for pretenns or teens.

A very enjoyable Landover book with the characters being very much themselves. I really love the Abernathy character. His long suffering attitude tempered with hidden caring is delightful.

Read all of Terry Brook's other books many times before finally deciding to dive into The Magic Kingdom of Landover Series and now I understand in part how Terry got started in his writing career. Thoroughly enjoyed the series as well as the rest his books. I can't recommend his writings enough!

I read the series in high school and saw this available as an electronic copy and gave it a go. Just as good as I remember it.
