Handle problems with light homeowner use.
Like Mr Carr I had significant handle problems with this hammer. See my comment on his review. Just posting my own review to get my vote in on my experience with the quality of this product.Beware.

loved it until.....
i really liked this hammer....until i tryed to pull a stubborn nail. crack! the head separated from the handle. tryed fixing it with wedges and epoxy but it was toast. i had the same thing happen with the stanley fat max look alike.as a professional carpenter, the value of a good hammer is tenfold. i have given up on wood handled hammers and have found the perfect hammer in the stanley anti-vibe with solid steel shaft. about the same price as the estwing, but better ergonomics.the only wood handle i would be willing to try is the hart. but until i lose my anti-vibe, i wont be trying another.

I'm a engineer for the military. I do a lot of construction especially use my hammer since half the tools the army gives us is crap. I used the hell out of this hammer and finally it snapped. I was prying of a self tapping bolt and snap it broke right off the head. It was good while it lasted

Only hammer I use, but not the greatest quality control, some are great like the one I got this time but the one before was off balance.

Great Hammer
The main reason to buy this because its a Dead On Product. Works great, swings well, prys good too. And you can call it the death stick....which maybe if your a hammer collector and display them on your mantel, will look good. But if you actually use this hammer, after a few weeks of good use, the art work comes right off. Overall Great product, love to get another one...

Great hammer! Wish I still had mine!
I had a friend help me with a project and nstead of me paying him all he wanted was my new Death Stick hammer. So I had to give it up. Now I have to get another one.This hammer is well balanced and hits clean. The magnetic nail holder works well. I like the curved handel over the straight because it is more comfortable for me to hold. The 21 ounce head is perfect.
