I expected this to have a smell but it's so strong I can't even store the bar in the bathroom cupboard. I bought this to wax the wood closet rods but I got a section done and couldn't continue. Caution if you are sensitive to scent. If you are a person who showers with this, know that some people may not be able to be around you. It could trigger headaches, asthma, nausea, allergic reactions and possibly other symptoms.

I got this for my BIL thinking it would smell like cedar. Nope. It smells like generic wood - if that's what it is? I don't really recognize the smell. It's a pretty strong smell and not entirely pleasant, but not stank either. I decided to bath with it and it smells much more pleasant after showering with it, so maybe there's a quality about it that only activates when wet? I'm going to finish using it, but won't get it again. I think they should change the name so that it's less misleading. Still looking for a soap that smells like cedar.

This has become my favorite soap! I love the pure cedar scent--it subtly lingers on the skin hours after use. It definitely adds to that fresh after-shower feeling. :D The soap itself is both effective and gentle. It doesn't strip my skin dry and I have sensitive, dry skin. After consistent use I've discovered I don't have to use nearly as much body lotion as I did before, which I found is a great plus when switching to glycerin based soaps that have natural oils in them. There are different processes that various brands use for their soaps. I'm not sure what Plantlife uses other than a regular cold process, but it gives the soap a good level of pungency in exchange for making the bar a bit short-lived. It still hasn't stopped me from enjoying their products. I've given these out to friends, too--they make nice gifts in a snap!
