Small, portable video recorder with a fantastic audio recording component
If you want a very small, very portable video recorder that has a fantastic audio recording component this camera is for you. Our daughter wanted us to video record her theatrical shows and so we needed a recorder that had a powerful audio recording capability. We found what we wanted in this little, inexpensive recorder. Being so small, it is quite easy to watch a performance and record the show without bothering the audience members around you. We bought the whole kit as it seemed like a reasonable deal and did not want the hassle of buying the accessories separately. Remember, though, this camera is great for recording sound but is not intended for much more. For instance, you cannot zoom in and out and all that other jazz like an ordinary video camera. Here, you simply point the camera in the direction that the sound is coming from and push record. As I said, it is an inexpensive way to record theatrical shows, musicals, concerts etc. where the audio is the most important aspect of the recording and the visual component is not as important.

Great video camera for a band or artist
I have to say, this camera is great! It's easy to use and I'm enjoying making videos of me playing my piano. The sound quality is very good and the picture clear and in focus to much depth. I wish it had come with a remote, I don't have a smart phone which is how it's designed to use for a remote. The wide angle lens makes things a little out of proportion but it picks up a lot in a little space. For the price you can't beat it!! I would recommend it for what it's designed for, it really does a great job. Here is an example on YouTube of what I made https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMR9VztuiXY

HDRMV1 music video recorder works really good
the HDRMV1 music video recorder works really good, it has a wide angle view and great sound, the kit came with two additional batteries that are a must if you are recording more than an hour or two, the cases that were included are not very useful, too small for the camera and most of the gear. we were sent a SD memory card, the recorder takes a micro SD so we had to purchase one separately to use the camera. the card reader in package is not compatible with a micro sd card, an adapter is needed

poor video quality
I don't use most of the accessories--the case is too small, the tripod is too short. For the price, the sound is decent, but the video quality is poor. I feel like my camera phone does almost as good a job. I'm wondering if I can get better results on a camcorder with a zoom function and a high quality microphone instead of a built-in mic?

The four stars are for the camera. The accessory ...
The four stars are for the camera. The accessory kit must be a lot of extra stuff Focus Camera had lying around, since much of it doesn't seem to fit with this camera, including the carrying case.

I'll give it three stars.
I guess I'm asking for too much but I am disappointed with the video quality. I went ahead with the purchase because I was looking for a camera that would lighten my work load and in the end this unit does that. The sound quality is better than others I've heard in a comparable price range. I hope that Sony can improve on the video quality and when that time comes they will show appreciation for those of us who purchased this transition product.

Like it!
This camera works perfectly for me. I got for the sound, and sound quality is great! Is a camera to leave it recording when you are performing, not too much to do for video quality, but is also good. Works for me.

Love it for my live gigs.
Great camera. I play bass guitar and use this to record my gigs. This camera has a very clear picture and picks up the sound of the bass better than any other camera I have tried. It works very well in the low lighting that most of my gigs are in. I stick this on a tripod or clamp it to somehing and let it do it's this.
