Tough to judge things like this from reviews
(Update: I foolishly lost these and ordered a different set as a replacement, They got very high marks and I thought I had found a really good, and cheaper, set, that were designed for gun-shooting practice. Started out on the lawnmower and after 15 minutes my ears were rattling and it was almost painful.I went back into the garage and nearly tore it apart looking for these. Found them under a tarp, put them on, and did another 2 1/2 hours of mowing with no discomfort. One thing I have found is that it is essential to move them around a bit and change the adjustment. It makes a huge difference in noise level even with the difference between smiling while wearing them and not smiling. At least for me there is a perfect placement, and when you find it they do a great job. Just avoid low-hanging branches on fruit trees. They can mess everything up.)Every person's hearing, and sensitivity to sounds, is different. I really dislike loud noises, so I read tons of reviews and decided I needed to decide for myself. As much as I like reading reviews, so many of the different hearing protectors sounded great, to many, but then not so good to others. These seemed to have a common positive theme, so I figured give it a chance. The price is reasonable, but I really didn't care about that as much as would this be comfortable on my fairly large head - my dad was 6'7" and even though I am way shorter I can wear his hats - and reduce the noise level to being tolerable. So I picked up my new zero-turn mower - Maverick HD, which I absolutely love - and popped these on and set off for a spin.A full 3.5 hours later I finished cutting what was between knee and waist-high grass. That mower is a beast, but pretty loud as well. These ear muffs passed the test with flying colors. I did need to slightly adjust them from time-to-time because even being slightly off the noise level increased noticeably. But when they were on correctly I found it very tolerable. Better was the fact I could wear these 3 1/2 hours straight. I hate things pressed against me anywhere. I don't even wear jewelry or a wristwatch. But I wore these for that long without a complaint. So even though reviews regarding sound levels and comfort levels are highly subjective, at least for me these worked great. Just ran the mower for a couple of hours three days ago and once again I didn't even notice the ear muffs. That is a very good thing. Looks like I got both the mower and the ear muffs about as perfect as I could hope for.

They work!
I work at a coffee roastery and the roaster and bagger can be extremely loud. Though my work does provide ear protection, they didn't work that well due to normal wear and tear/past workers stretching them out. I bought my own pair to mitigate this and pair it with the Loop earbuds. Together it basically blocked all sound. Wearing them by themselves only dampens the sound by 50%-60% which is still considered safe.My only issue is I do work front facing as a barista because the space is shared with coffee production and front facing employees. I did find myself having to take them off to hear. But hey, they work! I am getting pretty good at reading people's lips now though. They are adjustable and fit around my ears nicely. My only issue is it is a little uncomfortable around the corners of my head because my head isn't perfecly round. The headband over time does dig into my head. I'd say this was worth the money and I'm happy knowing I won't be deaf at a young age. ;)

Great fit
I hesitated buying these because they were a little on the expensive side. I had previously bought inexpensive earmuff Style ear protection covers from various box stores and hardware stores. I have to wear them frequently but always found them to be tight, a poor fit for the side of my head and ears and uncomfortable for long-term use. The poor service life of the inexpensive brands along with the uncomfortable fit convinced me to try something a little better quality and consequently more expensive. These 3M brand seems to be the right choice. They could use a little more room around the ears but they are far better fit and quieter than the box store brands I have bought in the past. I use this hearing protection in my shop where I do a lot of loud metal work and I also use them when I'm on my tractor with the bush hog or mower deck attachments. These also work well when using other yard and field equipment. Seems to be a good purchase I've only had them a little while but they work well and at this point I would recommend them.

Great earmuffs if your hardhat doesn't have brims
The ear muffs work great on brimless hard hats. Our company uses hardhats with brims extending out about an inch which will not work with this product. I had to purchase a new hardhat from Home Depot for these to work properly.

inexpensive and came promptly
I had on old pair of earmuffs that did not cut out much noise so I got these. What a difference! They fit snuggly and have the feel of quality. And they greatly reduce the noise of my leaf blower. Highly recommend these.
