My second Hoover Linx... And I still love it. Great for daily use or quick clean up.
This is my second Hoover Linx. I had the older model and it just recently quit after 3 years of daily use. I consider that durable for a vacuum of this size and this price. I got this vacuum because I have a labrador retriever who sheds a good deal as well as a little one who likes to make messes, and I'd like to keep our floors clean. While I do have a full-size canister vacuum that works well, I wanted something that I could very quickly and easily run around the house or use for a small clean-up. This was the perfect solution for me. It has enough battery power to do the main level of my (cape cod) house and then some on a full charge. Also, I like that the battery doesn't start to wane in power as it is getting low - it just stops when it is empty. It only takes a couple hours to fully charge. It picks up my dog's fur and just about everything else very well on both low pile carpet or hard flooring. This was my first battery-powered vacuum and I was really surprised by how well it does. I occasionally have to clean the brush (which is necessary on any vacuum when someone in the house has longer hair) and I've replaced the air filter a couple of times - they are inexpensive. After accidentally vacuuming something larger, I did have to extract the clog (which was pretty easy) but that could happen with any upright. Even after 3 years, the battery life only decreased a small amount. This new model is a bit heavier than the first but not enough to be an issue. I can still easily carry it around and on stairs (and I am not very strong). The wheel base is slightly different than the first model which seems to make it turn a little more smoothly. I am told that it has slightly more power and it does seem to have better suction, but I'm not sure if I'm noticing that because this one is new or if it really is made to have better suction. Also, if you have any issues, Hoover's customer service is excellent. You get an actual, real person on the phone with minimal wait. If you are looking for a convenient vacuum for daily use or quick clean up, THIS is your guy.

2 large shedding dogs, one 3 year old boy and a husband that doesn't take his shoes off in the house....
My main floor has laminate flooring and a few area rugs. It's a pain in the butt to sweep the floor of such a large area, and to bring my full-sized vacuum downstairs just to do a couple area rugs. We have a Roomba, but it only picks up about half the dirt on the floor, while flinging the rest around the floor. It's useless on carpet.I've wanted a cordless vacuum for a few years but the cost was prohibitive. After spending an hour and a half sweeping the floor (I move all the furniture to get underneath) I finally got fed up with the wasted time and effort and bought this little guy. I am so glad I did. Vacuuming up the dog fur, crushed Fruit Loops, and grass clippings is sooo much easier than sweeping! Now instead of ~90 minutes, I can get it done in about 20.Pros: Lightweight, powerful, compact, cordless, easy to maneuverCons:-Battery life isn't great, but honestly it doesn't bother me that much, because for the portability and ease of use, and at this price point, you are going to have a trade-off. It's enough for me to get around the main floor of the house, the stairs, and the upstairs hallway before it dies.-It can be a little messy to clean, particularly if it's really full. I use a paper towel to pull out the dirt if it won't knock out. I'm a mom, so I've dealt with far more disgusting things than floor dirt and dog hair, so it doesn't bother me either.Helpful Hints:-Remove the battery while not in use - it seems to drain even if the vacuum is off.-Clean out the canister often. I usually do it 2-3 times per vacuuming (once for each of the area rugs, where dog fur collects, and once for the laminate). If you don't clean the trap, it backs up, you lose suction, and it uses the battery charge faster.-Tighten the screw that holds the handle piece to the body of the vacuum every few uses. Don't make it super-duper tight, but not loose either.

Great - I love it!
I owned the original Hoover Platinum Linx Cordless Stick Vac for ten (count them 10) years! Model BH50010. Up until that purchase, I had to replace stick vacs every two years or less. I was amazed at the longevity and performance of this stick vac. During that time, I replaced the roller and the battery. The battery replacement was after 7 years of usage. After replacing, it was like a new unit. When the power nozzle motor went (after 10 years), it was not cost effective to buy a replacement part. I purchased the BH50020 as it was basically the same, but a newer model. I have the replacement battery from the old one to use while the new one is charging. My home is a combination of carpet and tile. I have two cats. This unit does a great job on hair, kitty litter, kitchen spills (coffee grounds, crumbs, etc.). It does an excellent job on carpets too when I don't feel like dragging out my big Dyson. Great for quick cleanup and sprucing up. I hope this one lasts as long my old unit. I'm not a spring chicken anymore and this unit is light and easy to handle. I also like that I don't to plug the entire unit to charge. No docking station. Just charge the battery in the charger (separate from the unit). I would highly recommend this product.I did try the Shark and the Dyson stick vacs, but I do not like the weight in my hand and found them harder to maneuver. Again, I would highly recommend this Hoover cordless stick vac.
