Review: Great book with actual info and crafts for all ages Review: We are using this with my homeschooled daughter alongside the documentary series “Before 1491”. Excellent hands-on activities so that she can create and cook while I read the information to her. I bought this book in particular because it is highly recommended by indigenous people :)

Very detailed book. Would say would be best for junior high and up as it was too advanced for my kids. I enjoyed it

I have skimmed this book so far. It’s fantastic as a detailed description and history of all the various nations. While there are crafts/activities as well, they seemed geared a bit more to older kids than I expected. I think I will hold on to the book for a year or two and then share with my kids in digestible chunks. (There’s a ton of text - well done, but just a lot to get through.)

I thought this would be a great book but after reading the first few pages …. Already talking about stereotypes, and racism .. the first chapter is titled , “who are native people ?” They didn’t talk about what you would expect at all when it comes to learning who they were . But you were told how to act at a festival and mascots are racist ! Kids can’t play pretend at being Indians because it’s making Indian people a toy . I’m going to return .
