Used in the doors of my work van, Much less road noise
I needed to replace the speakers in my old Ford work van. My thought was while I had the doors apart I needed to put some sound deadener in the doors to help the sound of my new speakers. I have no experience with doing this but I decided on this brand of insulation based on the thickness and this looked to be the amount I needed to do my doors and the low price point. I was not willing to go overboard for a old work van. I purchased a roller to install this stuff and it helped but I don't think required for the small amount of product. The install went very easy, this stuff sticks! its not coming off and that a good thing. I can't say exactly how much it help my speakers as my speakers were budget but I'm amazed how much it help with the road noise. I would compare to as if I added new tires or something, Its an improvement. If my budget allowed I would do my entire van. after using this product I am considering treating my cars as I hate road noise and this I think would make a huge improvement in a car as a noisy old work van was about the best test I could do. I would buy again!

Do NOT Run Any Wires Across This
DON'T BE LIKE ME! I installed this on the floor of my Tahoe and ran 12v turn on wire to my amplifier wire across it. Long story short, the 12v wire got so hot it melted the rubber and started smoking. It almost resulted in a fire. Stick with foil based sound deadening where you run your wires for this reason. This would be good for the rear of the car.

Not durable.
Not very durable. Tears and pulls apart with the slightest smoothing. Bad wrinkling from folding to package for cheaper shipping. Only useful if covered. Replaced it with foam with alum foil on face surface.

Good stuff, easy to work with,
Fiberglass on the front of the motor home would drip on the dash when it was below freezing. I sprayed water on it to know that it wasn't a leak. It wasn't so that indicates that it was an insulation problem. Warm air holds more humidity(water) than cold air, therefore when air cools down moisture forms on the surface of the material that has two different temperature on it's opposite sides. Insulation changes (slowes) the difference of tempature to the other. Glass is an example of a poor insulator.

Learn from my mistake!
This review is for a first timer using this foam material but not a newbie in putting a sound deadener with the usual aluminum layer. 1) Don’t make the mistake of peeling the paper all at once from the adhesive when working on a big area. Once that adhesive stick to any surface it will more likely peel the foam being so thin. 2) Worse, if the adhesive stick to itself, forget it, if you’re a perfectionist you’ll more likely to start back so many times if you make that mistake coz once you try to peel it off from itself it will rip that foam easy! 3) It also doesn’t make a reasonable stretch to adhere to a curved surface specially a corner. 4) if you force or use a roller or even just your hands/fingers to flatten it to the surface you’d end up ripping again the foam or leave an air bubble underneath! 5) Since I layered this to my spare tire/trunk cabin floor when you strike at the metal it does not produce that solid dull sound, so I really don’t expect a good deadening effect from it. 6) Since I ordered the 50+ square foot mat, I will more likely not use the rest of it to my doors or even my car cabin’s floor. The more I will use it from this point it will more likely just give me more disappointments! It’s such a waste of my money. Just settle for the ones with the aluminum layer and pay the extra premium for quality. I will ask if I can return the rest and get a partial refund for the material used coz more likely if I now start to peel it off, I would expect residues of adhesive and foam will stay and make removing it a challenge in itself! This is why I gave it a 5 Star for ADHESION, coz that will be the undoing of this product.

Good For Under the Hood!
One other review said that this product was not for use under the hood, but that was one of the key factors in my choice. I looked quite extensively and I kept finding this product on several different sites. The spec sheet says it will work under the hood, and it's a small repair to the firewall, and it has held up. It covers a small hole caused by rodents. I have another larger hole that I will also post once I get that repaired. Start small...So far so good with this small repair. This product WILL WORK under the hood!!

Great product for my use.
I used it to line cavities behind car speakers to deaden the hollow sound. Worked wonderfully and stuck well (like really well, to fingers and anything it touched lol)
