Better option for chick feeders
I did not buy mine here, but I do have 2 of these and am looking at purchasing a 3rd.I did not find that they wasted any more feed than other feeders. Chicks will be chicks, and they will find a way to poop in almost anything. The funnel shape prevents them from doing major scratching and spilling as they get bigger. Best of all, it holds a few days worth of feed. Traditional chick started quart sized feeders had to be filled every day and I would lose a lot of feed in trying to reattach the base. I find the lid stays put fairly well and prevents the chicks from sitting on top of the feeder. Not fool-proof, there is always one chick that at a certain size, will find a way, but overall, does a pretty good job and keeps poop out of the food and off the lid. I keep one in each of my 3 brooder tanks.

Waste of money! Too much feed waste due to design an the lid won't lock in placeI
I.i did not find flaws in the material however the lid does not lock down and flighty chicks easily knock it off . Try flipping it and there is a hole that would easily allow dirt and chicken poop to fall through. The lid had to be taped and retaped each time I filled the feeder The biggest problem is it allows chicks to throw out and waste feed. With a six pound capacity I lost at leas three pounds of feed as compared to a 12 pound metal feeder for standard chickens set at the lowest setting I lost zero feed and all was consumed by the chicks. I love the idea of the plastic feeder but it lost when I lost half my feed compared to other bulk feeders

Waste of money
The chicks flick the feed out onto the ground. Large amount of waste! I was hoping this would live up to being "spill proof". Not at all!Chicks cannot poop in the feeder but they toss it to the ground and then poop in it!
