Sennheiser never disappoints.
Spending over a hundred pounds on Bluetooth earbuds has always been a difficult decision for me, as the room for sound quality is limited on the specific product category and most modern tech features can be found even at cheap earbuds in our days. Yet, I decided to give a go on the CX's and boy I was impressed.Sennheiser have chosen a plastic material of good quality, with a smooth matte finish for this product and I like it for the most part. Both the case and the buds feel nice on the touch and do not pick fingerprints at all. However, they are very easy to slip from your hands, especially if you handle them when in a hurry. The buds are quite big and cube shaped, which makes it a tough suggestion for small ears. They initially feel intrusive when entering the ear canal and need some getting used to, but I have not experienced any discomfort with them, even after hours of use. The square shape keeps them in place and you don't have to constantly readjust the fit, which is welcome. The sound quality is the single and foremost selling point of the CX's. Beautiful sound on any level, crystal clear trebles and mids, punchy bass with presence, but no booming. Depending on the song and the mix, there where times I could feel the bass moving the air, even though I would not consider them bassy earbuds. As expected from Sennheiser, the sound profile is on the flat side and works particularly well with genres like electro beats, post punk and modern pop. There is a very handy EQ in the app for those who would like to try something else and like to cycle between various saved presets depending on the genre/mood.In general, listening to them is a very pleasant and relaxing experience, as you can feel the space between frequencies and pick up details on the mix. They of course support aptX and AAC codecs for Android and iOS respectively. I would say they sound far better than any other wireless earbuds I have tried, including some that cost double the price. As for other features, the touch gestures work very well but you'll get those accidental hits too. A non-intrusive beeping sound acts as a confirmation of a touch input, which I find very useful. Battery life is great, connection is instantaneous and constant and you can use them separately if that is your thing. One thing that exceeded my expectations was the mic sound quality. Even in windy, noisy environments the other person on the line can always hear me clearly and it is the first time I'm not taking off my earbuds when there is a call. They have done a good job at balancing between muting environment sounds and muffling the voice.I really can't think of any negatives yet, other than the slippery nature of the material. Maybe the case is still not thin enough to be comfortably kept in a pocket and the lid is obstructing when you try to take the earbuds from the case. Nothing to break the deal so far.All in all, this is a solid offer from Sennheiser for people looking for good sound quality and portability. Five stars from me.*Durability update: I accidentally dropped my right earbud in a street puddle during a heavy rain and was unable to locate it. I came back to the spot a couple of hours later and found it sitting there, not knowing if it would be functional anymore. After clearing up the connectors from mud and the protective sponge in front of the speaker from all kinds of gunk, it is working as if nothing ever happened to it. Not bad at all for a only splash proof approved piece of technology.

Really good.
Amazing sound. They don't cancel out ambient sound but the sound quality is so clear, I really don't care. I have bought lots of different ear buds over the past few years and they are the best by far I have bought. So much so I haven't bothered even looking at another pair. I am writing this review approximately 1 year after I bought these.

Brilliant - BUT.......
These arrived promptly and were easy to set up. Paired effortlessly with phone, Echo and the first device to pair with my TV.It gets better. I am profoundly deaf but had no difficulty with speech, like my expensive Sennheiser wifi headphones. But there was a difference. Music on my wifi headphones is passable but on these buds it was phenominal. Music was terrific and speech not a problem.Spent 2 days listening to my record collection which I hadn't done for years. Now comes the crunch. Day 3 after a full charge the app wouldn't pair. Said all devices in use. Furthermore it said it couldn't find one of the buds. Nothing I did worked. Bluetooth has a lot to answer for. Yeas with Sennheiser wifi and never the lightest problem. They did cost 3 times what the buds cost.Tried several resets but to no avail.I resisted the temptation to ask for a replacement. A device costing £70 should not behave in this way.So reluctantly I have returned it.What a shame.Docked a star for reliability.

Poor Quality
So, I’ve had these for a grand total of 3 months, and both earbuds are completely dead. At first the right earbud started making a crackling noise and then cut out with an awful noise. A week later the same issue with the left earbud. I went through the factory reset process a total of 5 times, twice with Amazon Customer service, twice with the seller, and then I went to the manufacturer hoping they had a better solution. The connection is awful as well, with them dropping connection to the device they are connected to regularly, and not always connecting back. The sound quality was fantastic with them being Senheisser, but sound quality doesn’t make up for poor functionality, constant connection issues, and overall build quality.I would avoid these buds as you’ll most likely end up returning them after a few months.Pros:Great sound quality and noise cancellation.Battery life was decent.Cons:Connection issuesExtremely poor build quality

good bang for the buck
1. pretty cheep given that it is a few iterations old now2. decent batery life3. sound quality is superbHonestly, sennheiser usually do good headphones and it still surprised me.One thing i will point out, test the supplied buds, the ones i went with initially were too small and as a result they sounded terrible, even though they looked the same size as ones on other headphones they were not and after upping the size of them and getting a proper seal the sound is excellent, about in between their ie100 and 300s.They are also very comfortable.

Very impressed
To keep it short I’m very impressed with these, after 4 weeks use, batteries seem to hold a charge for three or four days use, and easy and quick to recharge. Sound quality is excellent. Pods and case seem robust and the fit in the ear is comfortable and secure. The charge light on the case is useful and clear.Going on my experience with these pods I see no reason to pay more for a set.A couple of small cons - the instructions say put the pods in your ears to pair them, you can’t see the pairing lights in the inside of the pods if you do this, I found it easier to put the pods on a table or desk next to the device you are pairing with and watch the process on the device and pod lights.Noise cancelling is minimal…but I didn’t buy them for that.If you buy them, the firmware will no doubt be out of date, the download and installation is about 25 minutes for the first update…Install the EarPod app on your device first and work from there.Recommended.
