It isn't huge or anything but for a home kitchen it's still more than enough. I don't even bother with a pepper mill anymore. Just throw a few pepper corns in this and in a couple seconds I have perfectly cracked or ground pepper without giving myself carpal tunnel. I don't even bother with my electric spice grinder anymore because this is somehow faster and does a better job. The only issue I've seen is that after grinding fresh herbs into a paste, it is stained green inside. But that is a problem I assume any one of these will have. It doesn't have any flavor transfer or anything, just color.All of this in addition to feeling like an alchemist in Tamriel every time you use itHighly recommend

I received my order today and I love how sturdy it is and it is pretty attractive but was disappointed that it has a hairline crack in it! Trying to decide if I want to go through the hassle of returning it or just take my chances that it won't break on me. I hate the hassle of returning items!I want to give a update on this item. I was contacted by the seller in regards to the hairline crack and they have sent out a replacement mortar and pestle for me. Kuddos to them for their commitment in customer satisfaction! Again, it is a attractive mortar and heavy enough not to move around while grinding. Very happy customer!

This is so cute and exactly what I needed for crushing garlic, ginger and spices ( if you're like me and need minced garlic in every dish, this will be the best investment in your kitchen). It's nice and deep which was what I was recommended by my friend, the depth helps keep all the splashing contained. It's also really well pricedI only have one complaint about the shipping, which is probably amazon's fault as it was shipped by prime... This was a HEAVY item, and it was just in an amazon box with a bubble thing that did absolutely nothing to prevent it from flying around inside the box. Thank goodness the product inside is packaged well that it survived in one piece, but all the banging it must have done during shipment broke one side of the product box.I really have no complaints about the actual product so far. As far as durability goes, I guess I'll just have to use it and see how it'll hold up to all the banging I will be doing!

I use this for crushing spices and occasionally seeds and garlic, and it does a great job. The interior is coarse so it's perfect for grinding herbs into fine powers. And the mortar is small enough so it's not a challenge to tip it and get the crushed herbs out.As for cleaning, I just put a dab of dish soap in it and give it a good scrub with warm water. It dries pretty fast too.It's perfect for small jobs, but if I was making salsa then this would be too small.

I have been using a mortar and pestle for a few years now and mine had recently broke. I was in the market for a new one and came across Avocat. I must say that I was very impressed with the overall quality and weight of this M&P. the granite is smooth and polished. The size of the bowl is just the right size, I love using this as a Dip bowl when i have guests over, as I am not always in need of a M&P. all in all I would say this is a great product at a fair price and would recommend anyone who was looking for a M&P to consider this great choice.

I use this for everything from pulverizing pills for the dog to crushing herbs. Not easy to clean. Porcelain or stainless might be a better idea. So would buying more than one for various jobs.

The item itself is great. Very sturdy and quite pretty. It does exactly what I needed it to do and I'm very happy with it. I would have given 5 stars if I had received it promptly. It didn't even leave for the shipper until the day I was supposed to receive it. I ordered it because I needed it to crush medication (which it does beautifully!), so it was very inconvenient waiting for it to arrive. The item itself is great.

EXCELLENT MORTAR AND PESTLE. The mortar is spacious and the interior surface is coarse enough to grind tough spices. The pestle is solid and easy to hold. I like the rough texture on the grinding surface. This mortar and pestle is quite hefty with a fairly wide base which provides a very stable and reliable contact when in use. I have zero complaints and would recomend this too anyone looking for a no frills quality mortar and pestle set.
