The Villa

Great read!
I haven't read Nora Roberts books in a while, I'm so glad I read this one. She is a great writer! Her story line flows. I could tell such a difference in her writing and other authors I have read. She is not only a best selling author, she is a great author. At first I thought there were to many characters to get to know and remember but soon they all came together. The story line was not only very good but somewhat educational as well. I'm wondering what became of a couple of the female characters but maybe that's included in her next book. This book is one I couldn't wait to get back to . The story kept me wondering, "What next?" I highly recommend anyone to read this book, I guarantee you will like it!

A Good And Enjoyable Book
"The Villa" was one of the first Nora Roberts books I read. I enjoyed it so much I passed my copy on to anyone who wanted to read it. Most borrowers returned my copy to me, but unfortunately my copy was lost. Recently I decided I wanted to revisit the Giambelli Family and purchased this book. I am enjoying the story as much as I did the first time and this time I don't think I will lent to anyone. The cover is different than what I had before but the storyline is the same. Nora Roberts always writes a good book.

Easy. Pleasurable.
I started reading The Villa because there was a copy of it at the house where we were vacationing this Summer. I didn't want to take it from their library, but I did want to continue reading it, so I downloaded a copy when we got home. I've since learned that this author has written a bunch of books. I'll probably read another at some point. This one is an easy, pleasurable, don't have to think very much kind of read. It gets a little to "Romance Novel -ish" for me, but I enjoyed it none the less.

Vintage Roberts
The Villa is Nora Roberts at her best. It is a sweeping saga of a family that created and nurtured one of the most power wine dynasty that spans from Italy to the United States. Tereza Giambelli, the matriarch has decided to merge her internationally known winery company with that of her husband, Eli MacMillian. She feels it is time to breathe new life into the dynasty and make sure it will live on with the younger generation. To accomplish this, she wants her key players to know the business from every aspect. Each member is to learn different parts of the business other than the area he or she excels in. To make sure everything goes accordingly to plan, she brings in a new CEO from their biggest competitor, David Cutter, to oversee the transition. David has the tough job of making sure everyone goes with the plan. Unfortunately, not everyone wants this to succeed. Sophia Giambelli, Tereza's granddaughter, is one of the sharpest members of the family. She is one independent, smart woman who succeeds quite well in a man's world. She pairs up with Tyler MacMillian, Eli's grandson. While Sophia is a savvy businesswoman, Tyler is a man of the land. He cares nothing about advertisement and packaging, but growing the grapes that make up his precious wine. They each find themselves learning a side of the business they could very well do without. Then disaster strikes in the form of murder and product tampering and the Giambelli-MacMillan families find themselves banding together to save not only their business, but also their reputations. There is so much happening in this story that it is impossible to review without giving away too much of the plot. One of the things that impressed me most was the cast of characters. You have the tough, feisty, independent heroine, Sophie, and the tough, silent and plainspoken hero, Tyler, who butt heads while being sexually attracted to each other. Then there is Pilar (one of my favorite characters) who is ending an emotionally abusive marriage to Sophie's father, a man who has had more mistresses or affairs than anyone can keep up with including his new, young trophy wife, Rene. Rene is one of those tough, self-serving women we all love to hate. Thrown into the mixture is David Cutter, a divorce man trying to raise two teenagers, Theo the son who has gotten into some trouble and Mandy, the child wise beyond her years with a brain to match. This novel is engrossing. It flat out holds your interest and attention throughout the story. It is one of those books you don't want to put down. However, due to its large cast of characters I would advise you to start out reading slowly so you can figure out who everyone is. Believe me, they all stick around for the story in some way or another. One word of caution to Ms. Roberts' fans, don't expect this to be as chilling, dark, and suspenseful as Carolina Moon-it's not. However, in my opinion it is just as fascinating. I would say Ms. Roberts has taken her writing to a new level, but let's face it there isn't any other level for Ms. Roberts to go to. She is one of the finest writers of our times.

Great read!
I read this book a few years ago and forgot about it. I just read it again and it was like reading it for the first time. I was even surprised by the ending, again. It's a very good story with unexpected twists.

An enjoyable romance and family story
If you like stories of several generations in a family working together along with disloyal family members and some romance, you'll probably enjoy The Villa. Even though the romance stories were quite predictable , it kept my interest and I enjoyed it

The book you just can't put down!
As always I enjoyed author Nora Roberts and this book was really intriguing. Just when you thought you had the mystery solved, the ending perfected, wham! you discovered you were wrong. Every page produced more intrigue, happiness, sadness, etc. An exciting read!

AVERAGE FORGETTABLE READ
This is one of the handful of Nora Robers novels that I didn’t like. I loved the setting (more so because I am italian), but the characters are among the worst developed I’ve ever seen, and overall the book feels kind of rushed to me - as if the author wanted to be done with it as soon as possible. It’s a decent read, but honestly not something I’d really recommend to anyone except Nora Roberts super hardcore fans.

The Villa
If you want to read a soap opera instead of watching it on the telly then this is your book. A Californian/Italian vino version of Dynasty or Dallas. The women are either strong, cold and calculating, weak doormats or money grabbing bitches. And the men are either cheating scum or the salt of the earth. It was utterly dissappointing, predictable and forgettable.
