Winter fun for the Great Lakes sailor
Haunted Lake Superior: Ghostly Tales and Legends from the Mystical Inland Sea I sail in the Great Lakes and was looking for a fun little read during this past long, cold winter. I found the book interesting, but it seemed as if the author strayed from the main topic somewhat inorder to provide sufficient material. I enjoyed the first part of the book that discribed Indian legends and their source. This provided the background for other tales that followed. Those readers that seek Great Lakes material should enjoy the read.

More haunted book
Enjoy the book. More hauntings and good to read on cold winter days here in Minnesota. Lake Superior is full of mysteries.

Awesome history
We enjoyed the book because of the history, especially. Some of the stories people might not think of as falling under the heading of haunted, but the author treats all involved with respect and wonders why certain places are haunted leaving us to think a little about life and the history of the area. I especially liked how he treated the missionaries. They were good people and wanted the best for the natives. A great read, though editing would have helped. But, that is easy to get over.

Pretty Good
This book was certainly an interesting one. I enjoyed it to an extent. I particularly enjoyed the odd things that Lake Superior did in the past that are mentioned in this book, such as the lakeshore receding about 15 feet without cause or reason, or the phenomenon called "the Three Sisters," which I have heard of, but never seen in print.Besides that, there are some things in this book which I thought to be pointless, stupid, and just plain shouldn't have been placed in the book. Overall, a good book, but there were little things I would've left out. I still would recommend this book, and anyone who enjoyed Fred Stonehouse's "Haunted Lakes" books, or Gerald Hunter's "Haunted Michigan" would probably enjoy this also.

The Haunting Tales with a historical perspective
I purchased this book because I love the Lake Superior area. This book has really kept my interest. It's not just a "ghost tales" book. It has great historical value and describes the Native American culture that surrounded the lake, along with Native American beliefs about the lake. This book also gave me my first introduction to the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald that sank in Lake Superior and now I am truly fascinated and hooked by that story. Very good reading. The author kept me involved and I will be adding this book to my collection.
