Figured I would try this tool after trying to rig up puller for housing and didn't get anywhere. Had been soaking it for a few days waiting on part to show up. After just one hit from slide hammer it started to come out. This lower unit had not been in salt water but was a 94 model that had never been apart. Tool is great quality material too, not cheap cast. If you have a need to pull housing try this first, for the price it can't hurt.

Can't say much. As most marine mechanics know it's just A big nut with different thread sizes at each end. One to fit the Yamaha prop shaft and one to fit A standard (I think 5/8") slide hammer. It appears to be made of good steel. Maybe tool steel? At any rate it works well as long as the carrier isn't corroded in so bad that heat won't help.
