This ceramic fiber blanket is rated to 2300F and has a density of 8 pounds per cubic foot exceeding NFPA 211 9.5.12.4 standards for insulation. May be appropriate to meet UL 1777 standards for zero to 1" clearance duct and flu installations. Please consult your engineer or architect. May also be appropriate to reduce side and ceiling clearances by 50-66% per NFPA 211 Table 9.5.1.2. The foil provides a nice barrier to contact when installed on the cold face in other applications where contact is possible.
