Hubby is writing his dissertation and needed this book as a source. He is quite pleased with its information and clarity. Very well written!

The author has amassed a welter of detail on how money affects human attitudes and orientations in chapters introduced by witty epigraphs. The one criticism I would raise, however, is that the book lacks a theoretical framework within which the author could have organized his material more effectively. Perhaps the best that can be said about the work is that it gives a broad survey of the subject matter. For this reason, the reader may perhaps begin here, but for more profound reflection on how money structures our inner life, organizes our social experience, imbues our perception of the world, and helps explain our passionate commitment to prevailing ideologies, he or she will have to look elsewhere.
