Inorganic and Organic Chemistry Model Student Kit (281 Pieces) - MM-007 with Atom Configurations, Bonds and Orbitals

The model pieces themselves are good - a wide variety, sturdy, and easy to assemble and disassemble. Honestly, you could get away with a much smaller kit for most standard orgo classes, but the price difference isn't big and I like that this one includes orbitals.I deducted a star because while the model pieces are fine, the box is completely useless. The lid just rests on top - there's no attempt at any sort of secure closure. You'd have to rubber band it closed if you wanted to transport it at all, which most students will. I ended up buying a plastic craft organizer (Akro-Mils 5805) and using that for storage/transport instead.

My sons report- I love this product a lot because it’s sturdy, it’s easy to assemble and it’s pretty cheap compared to how much you get.It is so easy to assemble. All you have to do is connect one of the bonds to a atom. It’s pretty hard to break the bonds too. To disconnect them all you have to do is to use the tool in the box to remove one of the bonds from the atom. It’s also very sturdy and almost never breaks. The only time it might not be sturdy is when you make a really big molecule with 20 atoms or more. I think the value is great because you get 60 short bonds, 55 medium bonds,15 long bonds and 88 atoms.

Good product. The manufacturing tolerances seem good, all the bits are easy to assemble and pull apart. I only need to use the bond key on the incredibly short bond pieces, everything else I can take apart by hand.

Things are good except the double bonds are kinda weird. However the quality and quantity is good.Good price, too.I have used it a couple times in class. Some atomes are hard to attach but just a few (2-3). No biggie.Overall not bad.

This is a fantastic molecular model set. All individual pieces are well made and durable. Seeing as the other sets I had were vastly inferior in quality, I felt like this deserved 5 stars. I regularly get compliments from fellow students on how great these are.For the manufacturer, here are two things I feel could be improved:1. The length of the smallest bond pieces. They will often get stuck in one of the atoms when you try to separate them, and prying it off is very difficult.2. Trying to rotate C--C bonds from axial to equatorial for cyclohexane chair conformations is difficult sometimes. Twisting one carbon bond will often twist most of the molecule. I feel like this is the case because the bonds fit so tightly in the atoms,and that's a good thing! Guess it's just an inevitable compromise to avoid molecules coming apart altogether.I want to reiterate that this is truly a great set. The two things I mentioned above don't take away from the overall quality of the product, and don't even merit taking any stars off. It does what it's supposed to and does it well. If you're taking organic chemistry -- even if you're good at rotating 3D objects in your head -- buy this and practice with it!

Great product overall, everything comes in little baggies and in compartments so you don’t lose anything. Our professor told us to get model kits, as it it would help us for our exams. I tried to use them when studying, but I only used them like 1 time. Still did well on my exams without them. If you are a visual learner that absolutely needs to visualize molecules in 3D, then get these. Otherwise, you probably won’t need them to do well in organic chem.

Great kit. Highly recommend over others. I have used three different types of kits and this one is my favorite. The tool that you can use to get the attachments off is really nice and comes in handy. Would recommend to anyone taking organic chemistry.

This is my second model kit I bought from Duluth Labs. The first one was amazing everything was there plus 2 extra four hole carbons, this also occurred in my second kit. The only thing different about the second kit is that I am missing a three hole nitrogen and also the lid wont stay on well. I understand that its just one less atom but nitrogen for organic chemistry is important so I'm a little upset. Also I don't understand why the first kit I bought was great and had all the pieces but the second kit has lower standards.-------------- follow up, I called them and told them what happened and they said that it was an honest mistake, they immediately rectified the situation. I'm very please with this product and recommend it for everyone who likes hands on learning for chemistry.
