Southern California s Nails was formed in December 2007 by Todd Jones (ex-Terror) along with the help of Taylor Young (Cremetorium), and John Gianelli. Nails is beyond brutality. Filthy, vicious and raw. Imagine a cross between the good Amrep bands of the nineties (Helmet, Hammerhead, Today is The Day, Unsane) and Cro-Mags Age of Quarrel riffage played at breakneck speeds. Their epic battle cry: Unsilent Death was recorded during the cold winter of 2009 at Kurt Ballou s (Converge, Trap Them, Disfear, Black Breath) Godcity Recording Studio. The CD version of the Unsilent Death album was originally released in very limited quantities by Six Feet Under records. The LP version was self released by the band on Todd s Streetcleaner Label and quickly sold through the 1000 piece pressing. Southern Lord is extremely honored to pick up the torch of this album and let it burn brightly through many more countless battles!

More brutal than a pillowcase full of hammers!
It is rare I get obsessed with a band these days. After all, it's 2014, I've been around this genre long enough to know the real deal when I hear it. Nails are the real deal. More brutal than a pillowcase full of hammers! Although rougher than their more recent Abandon All Life, 2010's Unsilent Death is clearly executed with a flawless vision and a sonic command of all they survey. After listening to their songs, and finding myself make what could only be described as purely violent gestures in the air, while experiencing them from start to finish, over and over again, like Suffering Soul, all I could manage to say within seconds of the conclusion of this record is...whew.

Hard to listen to
Sounds like someone stuck cutlery in a blender and hit blitz while screaming about how futile life is. I love it

NAILS - UNSILENT DEATH
Fast, heavy, dirty... everything you could ever want in a metal/hardcore band. The only "complaint" would be that this 13 minute wall of aggression is priced the same as an album of regular length, but it's well worth it.

This one doesn't hang around...
'Unsilent Death' is fast, fuzzy and it takes the 'left hand path' at every turn. A short sharp shock of early 90's Sunlight Studios Death Metal - but looser - colliding with contemporary Grind/Powerviolence in a lovely noisy mess. Recommended.

Brutal and uncompromising.
NAILS are a very special band, and this is a very special album. It appeals to the Hardcore Punk fans and the extreme death metal fans - this blend of hardcore and brutal metal is absolutely incredible. Clocking in at about 15 minutes, this album doesn't let you catch your breath - it just pummels, and pummels and pummels. If you want something that will really perforate your eardrums, don't hesitate to get this. As an introduction to extreme music or as further punishment for the extreme veterans, this album is perfect.
