It is as described. Well made and serves it’s purpose. The handle grips well even with wet gloves on.

this is an instrument that lets you measure bone loss in teeth and gums. was thrilled i found one. a million years ago i was a dental hygentist. had lost or broken the ones i had 40 years ago. at 65, healthy gums is very important.

Works fine

This is a dental instrument/probe that looks very similar to one's my dentist office uses. These are the PROS and Cons... PRO: Authentic Dental Probe with Mm markings for Gum pockets. Con: However, there is no chart to show what the marker lines represent included in with this instrument. Solution: In order to find out this information, I Google searched for Michigan Williams Dental Probe Measurements. Then I downloaded a PDF Calibrated Probes book from the internet. Also, I found illustrations and more info so I could read this probe. HOW TO USE: This instrument has 8 markings...the first is for 1mm, second is for 2mm, third is for 3mm. The fourth mm is missing, the next marker is 5mm, us for 5mm, and so on. I washed it in very hot water and then I probed it Gently in my gum pocket areas and wrote down my measurements. Before this I downloaded a free PDF book that had instructions. For me personally, I have Gingivitis and most of my pockets NOW are 3 and a couple in the back are 4's. This my dentist and I are watching. However, I my gums have improved as well as my teeth because I brush, water floss, rinse often and eat a very healthy diet. May I suggest this book (it has helped me) Cure Gum Disease Naturally it is by Ramsey Nagel. The reason that I rate this book a 4 is because it did not come with a marker chart. However, I found this on the internet.

After just a few days the millimeter marks are so faint as to be barely discernible.

Very good material, now I track my gums at home.
