Surprisingly fantastic figure
I was disappointed when this was first revealed because I was wanting the Sonic 3 version of the character and this seemed it might be a bit of brick but it’s actually a really great figure, the silver paint is fanatic and you get a couple shades of it along with some gunmetal and metallic red for the eye and feet, the Mechagodzilla inspired detailing and mechanics matches up well to the obscure concept art, articulation Is the best in this line and is what you’d want out of a modern figure with a ball jointed head and universal elbow joints being the highlight. It’s disappointing that the rest of this line can’t be as great as this figure and classic Robotnik as those two are just as great as figures in the $20 range, take for instance the Metal Sonic they released last year which is plagued by dull grey plastic and having its left arm stuck in a odd angle despite being able to incorporate the robotic design for a seemless elbow swivel, Mecha in comparison uses those designs fully to the point of even having a crazy ankle bend. Here’s hoping we get the Sonic 3 version because if it has this level of quality it would easily be in my top favorite figures.

Kind of small
The articulation on this figure is amazing, It is very fun to pose. Also the painting looks very nice and clean. The only problem I have is that it is quite shorter than the rest of the 4 inch figures, especially the modern ones. Overall not too disappointed considering this was one of the few Jakks figures actually available at retail price ($10), whereas most of the ones I find are nearly double the price.

An incredible figure of a surprising character
Getting this out of the way first before I even talk about the figure itself, this figure's MSRP is $10. It's apparently rather uncommon, so it's being sold here on Amazon for around double that or even more at the time of writing this review. Do yourself a favor and don't buy it at that price. Either pick it up at Target, wait for the price to drop, or wait for Jakks Pacific to re-release it in a future wave of figures.I'm honestly shocked that Jakks Pacific chose to make a figure of this character. Mecha Sonic has only ever made a single major appearance, and that was as the penultimate final boss of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Genesis! Unlike all of the other characters in this figure line, I'm reasonably sure that a 3D model of this character (aside from his appearance in Lego Dimensions) did not readily exist, so he must've been quite the challenge to design just based on his artwork and sprites in the game! And despite this, he looks *awesome*. Just like the Death Egg Robot figure (also by Jakks) that he seems to be intended to be paired with, he looks just like he did in Sonic 2. I love it. The metallic sheen across the whole figure gives it a nice, robotic look, and its gritter, chunkier appearance overall compared to the more sleek and modern Metal Sonic is fantastic. As well, it's got more articulation than most of Jakks' other figures, being able to bend at the elbows. In fact, because of this, the figure is able to stand in his rather iconic "squatting" pose that he's in most of the time in Sonic 2. The attention to detail here is wonderful! The accessory that Mecha Sonic here comes with is a Spike Trap, an accessory that has already been included with figures in the past. But, it never hurts to have more obstacles for the heroes to avoid in a Sonic display! And it's a decent choice of accessory to come paired with a baddie like this.If you can find it for its retail price of $10, I honestly can't recommend this figure enough. It's great. I hope that Jakks Pacific continues to make occasional niche character choices like this for other figures in this line. Perhaps one day we can get a figure of Mecha Sonic Mk.II, from Sonic 3 & Knuckles? I hope so!
