Are the splines on the spinning portion of the lug nut a different pattern than the stationary portion that attaches to the stud?

there are extra splines on the spinning section so that they all don't matchup to the inner section, had my honda accord sport parted in NYC for 2 1/2 months didn't notice any attempts on my wheels, i feel confident
