My wife and I are getting rid of the “coated” cookware products. We don’t trust any of it. We bought this kettle because it looked solid and not coated. It has turned out to be the best tea kettle we have bought. It heated a full kettle faster than any kettle we ever used. The kettle is easy to handle and pour, but when they said the handle gets hot, they ain’t kidding about that. It comes with a hot pad. I read the reviews about people bitching about the whistle about it being weak. The whistle works fine. It’s not freight train or wake the baby loud if that’s what they meant. So far, we’re quite please with the style and quality. Seriously though, the handle will light your ass up. Guess how I know?

This is a great tea kettle and worth the price. I looked at so many reviews before buying this, and I think it was worth the splurge. Some reviews mentioned the handle getting hot; however, mine gets only warm so I can touch the handle with my bare hands. I’ve used I only a few weeks, but so far it seems high quality and durable. I dry it thoroughly after each use and the inside looks perfect. I keep the flame on medium and the bottom has no signs of scorching. The whistle isn’t that loud, but loud enough that I can hear it from the next room. It seems high quality so far.

Excellent kettle, but a bit on the expensive side. It is well made from high-quality stainless-steel material and heats water very quickly. The kettle itself looks great and comes with a nice polished finished. The whistle is loud enough to hear, and it is not too irritating of sound. As for the handle not getting hot like we have read in other reviews, it sure not the case with ours – the handle gets hot, and we must use a silicon pad to prevent getting burned (4 stars because of this). Still, we are satisfied with the performance of this item as of the date of this review.

Does exactly what I need! Sturdy,loud whistle,heats quickly & can handle my professional stove heat. OH,and it’s SHINEY 💖 I always need hot water handy & steam in microwave DONT mix!!! good memories of my moms whistling ‘coffee pot’ (she loved instant Nescafé) every time it whistles,I remember fondly having a cup w/her… I’d drink instant again for another cup w/her. Today she’d have been 101yo Everyday things bringing the BEST memories!!! Buy this & start making your own memories!!!

The teapot is 100% quality. Good weight and is beautiful. Heats water quickly. No complaints.

Update: I looked at the reviews below. Saw one about polish underneath the lip. Sure enough mine had some left over polish there too. It blackened my cloth while wiping. Second, other reviewers said 'Made in China' on the box which I tossed, but my kettle has no 'made in' stamp anywhere. So certainly not Germany. I feel fooled by the splash image using black, red, and yellow stripes. I'm removing a star. Looks great with its amazing shine, pours without any spittle or possibly of a steam burn (unlike my previous kettle), plenty big for multiple coffee mugs, and the handle swings down for easy filing at the sink. We use the swing handle function a lot. I haven't had any issue of it swinging while hot and full; there's a metal tab to stop any (errant) swing. Subjectively, I think the whistle is progressive, starts gentle and then builds to a shrill to get your attention. Nice. Whereas my old kettle was just loud during the boil. I got this kettle because my old one started rusting inside; I get enough iron in my diet. Hopefully, this'll be more rust resistant. The only downside, the handle gets really hot, possible burn hazard, if you're silly and grab it like a dummy. Mine came with a pot-holder, but at this price, seems Gipfel could have included a silicon wrap/handle cover. Overall, you could do better.

This tea pot is perfect & I love the style. It’s the perfect size. It’s stainless steel, holds 8 cups just in case there’s company & it whistles so you know when it’s ready & the handle folds down & it has great balance

This is such a good kettle. We bought it after the plastic component on our last one melted when someone left it on the stove too long. All metal components - sturdy build - nice whistle - good capacity - would highly recommend!

Great quality (design and build). Kettle lid can be removed after boil unlike le creseut kettle we returned. Easy to clean. Works great on hot plate and induction. Also light and easy/comfortable to pour. Have owned other kettles that are heavy and/or unbalanced making pour difficult. Can't fault it.

Have been using this kettle for a couple of weeks now. Appears very well made, from polished 18/10 (grade 316) stainless steel. It is actually quite lightweight compared to the rather rusty Le Creuset kettle it replaces, but has a solid base and does not appear in any way flimsy; it is well engineered, and nicely fabricated. Works well on our induction stove. Handle stays very cool. Some reviewers commented on the whistle being quiet, but this was not our experience. Whistle starts out at a reasonable level, as you would want, but becomes ear piercing if you do not attend to it... as it should :-) Our only issue is that it is hard to see where the water level is, as the interior is also highly polished stainless and the water surface does not show up very clearly... but that is not a complaint, just an observation. International shipping to Australia was reasonably fast - around 7-10 days. Very happy.

A lovely kettle. As with all polished metal, one has to keep on top of keeping it clean. The handle really does become very hot so a mitt or tea towel is necessary to avoid a sudden dropping of it because of a burnt hand. Perhaps a nice sturdy wooden handle would have been a good idea.

It is supposed to have a "cool handle". I have had to buy a pot holder as the handle gets Very Hot. They did not mention that the handle can move which I found very odd. Cannot understand why it was designed like that. It is definitely below the quality I had expected considering the price I paid.
