Great For Those Small Turning Jobs

Well designed and Heavy
This faceplate has worked out very well for me. I used it with a fairly unbalanced turning, and it did not fail. I bought this faceplate for its smaller size. I included a quarter in the pic for scale. I'm happy with the price and quality. This does not include screws, which was no issue. Remember not to use sheet metal screws with a faceplate, and always wear protection.

Accurately machined and works well with two important flaws
I ordered this faceplate so I could use a 2 inch forstner bit to make a flat mounting area on wood blanks. The first flaw I noticed was that the faceplate is about 1/32 of an inch bigger than 2 inches. This means I had to move blank around on the drill press to widen the flat spot so the faceplate would fit. After that, the faceplate worked perfectly until I went to remove it from the headstock. It was at that point I found that the collar of this faceplate has no flattened areas to slip a wrench on to loosen it from the headstock. I ended up having to use a vise grips to remove it. It worked but over time doing this will damage the outside of the collar. That damage to the collar will be only cosmetic, but over time it's going to get pretty rough looking. Overall, for the price, I think this item is a decent value. But, I hope others will see this review and know what they are getting in to.

This basic faceplate is small, easy to use, well-made, and reasonably priced.

Works as it should
I like this faceplate because I can use a shorter mounting screw to the workpiece because there are about double the number of holes as are available on other faceplates. The plate is well balanced and does the job.

Doesn't have a flat surface to accept a wrench to remove it from the lathe
A good quality product, but because it doesn't have a flat survace to accept a wrench, it's very hard to remove from the lathe.
