Bursting with rich flavor, carnitas, a type of fried pork, is a staple in the Mexican kitchen that we are happy to have the opportunity to share with you. Del Real Foods carnitas have a unique and authentic texture and flavor rooted in the traditional cooking methods of Michoacán, a Mexican state known internationally for their delicious, melt-in-your-mouth carnitas. Richly seasoned, slow braised and deep-fried, carnitas make a flavorful and filling main course, but they are also incorporated in many other authentic Mexican dishes like tamales, tacos, tortas and burritos. Carnitas are traditionally served accompanied by cilantro, salsa and refried beans. They can easily be used to spice up American dish favorites like pulled pork sandwiches, omelets and even pizza.

Don't listen to the haters
I don't know what the other couple idiots are talking about. The product is great. It's got some fat, yeah, that's yummy stupid! Add your own flavor with a good salsa and chopped onions. They are pricey to purchase on amazon though. I get them at my pavilions for 8.99 each, and sometimes on sale for 5.99. Also, the ones I purchase are not frozen, but in the butchers fridge section, so maybe that makes a difference? Great quick weekday dinner with some warmed corn tortillas. I've purchased a pound of almost the same exact carnitas at local Mexican joint here in cali and paid twice as much, and this item was just the same.

Out of this world delicious!
I absolutely love Del Rio products starting with their carnitas, arroz & beans. Tamales are not too bad either. Authentic & delicious! Pay no mind to the negatives. Much better than Chipotle plus where else can you get two meals for $8. Recommended.

The carnitas are not too fatty, but meat seems to have too much retained water in it, even after reheated
Del Real Carnitas can be tasty when re-cooked in a hot oven or fry pan. But I have noticed that the meat, which appears to be good quality shoulder butt, is literally PUMPED FULL OF WATER. Yes, it's not fat that makes this meat so soggy when warmed up straight out of the package. I recently tried heating about ten ounces in my toaster oven, without burning it, for a very long time - perhaps an hour. And it was strange that no amount of heating appeared to get the excessive moisture out of the meat. My personal conclusion is that there is, without a doubt, more to this product than just a good shoulder butt, deep fried until it is golden browned, and vacuum sealed. Even a slow-roasted (not fried) product could not retain this amount of moisture - and it can't be cooked out. I appreciate other opinions on this product. Costco stocks it and perhaps they could check to see if others have noticed this same issue.

Best Carnitas Ever!
These are absolutely the best frozen carnitas I have ever had! Since I've never had any luck making it myself, this enables me to have the restaurant taste without any work. I usually buy it in bulk and pull it out whenever I want to make tacos, or nachos or anything else that you can think of. I used to be able to purchase at Costco, but they no longer carry it. Really Really great!

Don't bother purchasing
Purchased from COSTCO for much less. This product is gross. They took the worst cuts from a pork roast and are trying to sell as gourmet. The fat to meat ratio was 50% so inedible from the prefered microwave method. Using a slow cooker would probably work, but why spend the money on this tasteless product? Buy a small pork roast and add your own spices, it will be better than this. On the upside my dogs loved it!

No Taste
I bought mine at Costco because they switched brands. I bought 2 packs and I am going to take one back. It has no flavor.
