For the money you can't beat it!
I do a LOT of gaming (Battlefield, etc.), store a lot of digital information (documents, gifs, jpgs, RAWs, etc.), save music and videos and just use up disk space. I went into this purchase a bit tongue in cheek. I read all of the reviews and researched other reviews on the internet for a reasonable storage expansion option. I arrived at and decided this Hitachi HDD. 3 TB is a good "bump" to my old IBuyPower gaming computer. I upgraded the graphics, the RAM and even added a couple of onboard fans to the computer. I bumped the PSU to 850 and already had two 1 TB internal drives in the beast. My primary was getting filled and was close to being maxed out so I jumped online for a storage unit, nothing more. I poked around looking at some 2TB HDDs and saw this one.I thought I'd take a chance at the price. I ordered it up and it arrived several days before I expected it to. I did a simple install, fired my old computer up and dloaded the latest Windows 10 updates. I rebooted to BIOS and Windows recognized the HGST 3TB HDD. I rebooted and ran a quick scan of the drive... 0 hrs. use at install. From there I went into the settings section of Windows 10 and I formatted it for storage. After formatting the drive I got the better part of 2.9 TB's of usable space. I transferred a lot of programs and files to it and intend on transferring more as time goes on. I'm using it as my default storage (and some ops) now and things are much tidier on the other two drives than they were before this install. My whole machine appears to have sped up and things are simply running much smoother. Before this disk's install I was getting hitches in the dloads and storage events primarily because my available disk space on both 1 TB drives were in the red on one and nearly in the red on the other. Now, things are smooth and fast again. The only knock (and it ain't much) is the occasional clunking I get as the drive reads/writes the info. But, I've had several hdd's do that in the past so it's nothing new to me. The seller was up front about the product, ensured I realized it's a "refurbished" drive and they included a 1 yr. warranty certificate with it. The transaction was painless, it shipped fast, was delivered before it was expected to be, was very well priced, was a simple install and was recognized, formatted and up and running in very little time. The seller, goHardDrive even followed up with me to make sure I received the unit and to ensure I was satisfied. I'm thinking of grabbing another one just to keep around in case one of the older 1 TB HDDs puke on me but I'll set aside some bucks later on for that. My primary is a Western Digital (1 TB) and my old storage is a Seagate (1 TB). I'll probably move all of the files from the Seagate to the Hitachi and pull the Seagate just to keep things tidy. So, if you're kicking around the idea of grabbing one of these Hitachi drives I suggest, for the money give it a go. So far it works for me... it's working very well and I have no reason to believe it won't be working for me anytime soon. In my opinion it's a great bang for the buck and GoHardDrive is a great seller to deal with. Thanks!06/02/2017 I just thought I'd come back on here and update my comment. I'm loving this HDD. I'm going to be buying another one in the next day or two now that I know they're truly dependable. I just have to make sure the money's in the bank. Thanks again GoHardDrive for the great service and great product.

Good refurbished drive for the money. Solid 1 yr warranty for a refurbished drive. Secure packaging for shipment.
I ordered 2 of these 5 days ago for an ASUSTOR NAS I recently set up. Both drives came in anti-static bags with plastic retaining sleeves on the end's in a box where everything was tight enough to prevent movement. I am confident nothing got banged up during shipment the way these were packaged from Go Hard Drive. The drives themselves are exactly as advertised, 3TB 7200RPM HGST enterprise drives. None of the smart tests failed and both drives passed Badblocks testing with zero bad blocks. Some of the S.M.A.R.T data is indicative of used drives which is exactly what these are but please be aware that even though the first time you plug these in they will show zero hours of usage and HDD head parking requests at zero that is most definitely not the case. These drives are used & refurbished. I did a little poking around with HDD guardian, Crystal Disk info and HD Tune. The results are that one drive has 11000 hrs power on time, or about 450 + days and the second has 15000 hrs power on time or about 650 + days. Also the seek time performance threshold is 20 and the raw number is 34 on both drives. Once the raw number drops to 20 this will throw a flag in the S.M.A.R.T system indicating drive replacement is prudent. My best guess is whatever server farm these originally came from, their threshold for replacement was when the seek performance got below 35.The drives themselves are on the louder end and do run hotter than I am used to seeing 40C or 95F but once again these are refurbished enterprise level drives they are not designed with cooling or acoustics in mind like a consumer level drive is. They are designed to get packed 6, 8 or 12 deep into a rack-mount system in an air conditioned server room.Overall I am happy with my purchase the vendor has not given me any type of issues and I would confidently order from them again. Due to the hours of usage on the drives and the seek time performance numbers, I would optimistically expect these drives to last an additional 1 1/2 to 3 years depending on usage. However since drives can fail for numerous reasons I do consider the 1 year warranty quite generous since most companies only offer 90 days for used or refurbished drives. These drives are no longer manufactured, nor are they available brand new from HGST. It looks like any you do find will be used or refurbished. I was able to find what looks like " new " drives on another site that likes eggs. They are $235 a piece, ship from china and I would guess are either counterfeit or refurbished. At least buying from Go Hard Drive I know what I am getting and they are warrantied by Go Hard Drive for 1 year. The new drive came with a 5 year nontransferable warranty from HGST. So if you go to the egg site and order the expensive "new" drive you probably wont get any love from HGST on the warranty since they are shipped from a no name Chinese provider and not the manufacturer or a listed reseller. If you are concerned about data security and data redundancy, you would have bought new drives & therefore wouldn't have bought these anyway. If you are concerned about price you would buy these and then complain when they go belly up in a couple years. If you are realistic about what these are & backup the contents periodically, like you should with any other data storage you have then I see no reason not to purchase these or recommend someone else not to purchase them especially for $69 a drive...
