Mr. Tickle

Classic, fun book, as all the books in the series are, but consumers should be aware that this is a LARGE size copy of the book and not the usual dimensions of the Mr. Men books that most of us are acquainted with. I bought this book to help finish off the set I started 35 years ago as a child but when it arrived I found, much to my surprise, that it was twice the size of my other Mr. Men books. I can't put it with the rest of the set now because it will stick out like a sore thumb, so that was disappointing that it wasn't made clearer in the description (it's noted in the dimensions section but when all the other books are one size and you're buying several it's easy to skip right past that).Despite the fact that the irregular size should've been front and centre in the description, I won't hold that against the book itself, which is actually the book that started it all for Roger Hargreaves. As the story goes, his son Adam asked him what a tickle looked like and he drew Mr. Tickle. The rest is history, with dozens of other Mr. Men characters that followed and millions of books sold. People here who are trying to make the Mr. Tickle character into something creepy have become too jaded by life and the evil people who inhabit this world, which are far removed from the world Hargreaves created. Mr. Tickle is simply a mischievous troublemaker with cartoonishly long arms who is played for laughs, and any kid who's ever been ticklish will get a kick out of him. He doesn't even tickle any kids in the story, he just tickles a bunch of unsuspecting adults in public and causes mayhem at their various places of work, so to suggest he's some kind of creepy child predator is unfair to the author's vision of innocent children's entertainment.

Bought for Christmas as part of Grandsons present and he loves it
