Backlight bleed was good, wouldn't say the ips glow is bad either, much better than I expected.
I dont usually do reviews but im pretty happy with this monitor. I tried a couple 1440p oleds prior to this 4k IPS and I prefer this 4k IPS. The oleds were way prettier but the QD oled made me sick and eye strain and the W oled had text issues. I have to have decently sized icons so everything was blurry at 1440p with this 4k monitor even at 200% everything is so crispy. Had an issue with my phone not wanting to charge from the usb c port but its working now. The backlight bleed is minimal for an IPS same withe ips glow, and it came pretty good out of the box settings. Haven't tried the dual mode much but it worked when I tested it. If you wanted a 4k monitor for a good price id say this one is pretty good.

If you have an SD monitor now, this is a huge upgrade.
Coming from a 27" SD to this HD model, more than doubling max frame rate, this was a huge step up and really let my GTX 4090 do what it was made to do.

Worth it.
I got it in like new condition. Needed some fine tuning. But loving it since. The screen quality and feel of the product is great.

Mostly good, has issues though
The media could not be loaded. I've been looking to get a new monitor for some time now. I wanted one that would meet all of my criteria.4k24"-32"around $250 (this obviously wasn't met)IPS panel120+hzVesa mount compatibleThis monitor checked all the boxes except the price, but I was willing to spend a little more if it meant I was getting a great monitor. And it is -- mostly. The picture is nice, vivid and smooth. It handles high frames without a problem. The 27" size is perfect on a monitor arm to get it positioned exactly where you want it. Games are beautiful in 4k and there's not much issue, most of the time. The included display port cable is a nice addition and supports DP1.4.The thin bezels are a little misleading, there's still a border under the glass that makes the bezel larger than you'd think it was. The first product picture shows it well, the black you see around the top, left and right, most of that is under the glass and not the plastic surround of the monitor, if that makes sense. The menu is strange and the monitor has buttons to shortcut to certain settings, but it's all still in the menu. The extra buttons seem unnecessary to me. Parts of the menu are easy to get to and other options are hard to figure out why they are greyed out. I haven't tried the 'app' yet, as I'm not sure if that requires a usb connection or not (usb cable NOT included).Vesa mounting is trickier than it needs to be, you have to pry off the plastic pieces around the monitor arm to get to the screws to take off the arm (the instructions aren't very helpful with this). Basically if you look at the plastic circle you can see that it's two different sections. Where they meet around the bottom at about the 4-5 o'clock position there's a 'ramp' edge. If you take a flat head screwdriver you can wedge it in there and pry it up. But instead of doing that, since you probably will mar up the plastic, just try giving it a firm tug and rock it back and forth first. It's just clipped in and comes off with a little bit of force. The space to mount an arm is limited. It has to be square, if your arm's plate has extended rounded edges or anything that makes it larger than a a regular square shape, it probably won't fit, unless you want to get creative with spacers and longer screws, but I don't recommend that. Here are my main issues with this monitor:Changing anything in the settings is SLOW. The monitor will turn off and take it's sweet time coming back or might turn on/off several times.Detecting an input is SLOW and will turn on and off multiple times before it stays on. I have two monitors connected (other is an LG) both on DP and the Asus takes about 10+ seconds longer to 'turn on' compared to the LG. I'm not sure if it's the same on HDMI, but I'm not willing to give up the performance I paid for to have it on HDMI instead of DP.I also get a strange bug randomly. My second monitor will start getting like tv scan lines from the top of the monitor and go down about an inch of the screen at which time the asus monitor shuts off then turns back on. It will keep doing this until I unplug both monitors from the graphics card and plug them back in. Sometimes it requires a reboot to fix. I NEVER had this issue before using this monitor, so I can safely say that it's causing the problem and it's not an issue with my graphics card. I just can't figure out why it's happening. It might be that my other monitor is 1080p and a smaller size and strange things are happening at random times, really not sure. The issue hasn't happened in a few weeks at the time of me writing this, but it sure is annoying when it happens. The biggest one though is their form of local dimming (at least I assume that's what it is). The backlight turns on in columns based on what is on the screen and where. On dark scenes or areas in a game you will see it. If you move your mouse across a dark screen you will see the columns of light travel across the screen. I had an fps counter in the top left, and when I played anything that had a dark scene, the whole left side of the screen would be lit up with a column of light. Watching movies on this would be a disaster, if it has black borders. It might just be the HDR, I'm not fully sure since I haven't tried turning it off yet (again something I paid for, I shouldn't have to turn it off to make things look better, when it's a feature that IS supposed to make things look better). Including a video to demonstrate this.Overall though, the cons aren't a big enough issue for me to return it, but I think I will be keeping an eye out for an OLED monitor to replace it and my older LG.

Awesome gaming monitor, DISSAPOINTING QUALITY! ASUS NEEDS TO STEP UP THEIR GAME!
The media could not be loaded. As a sweaty FPS gamer and a streamer (Twitch/Youtuber) who owns a full ASUS PC and accessories, this monitor is simply awesome. But, it has some cons I would like to chat about. I'll be listing the pros and cons of the ASUS ROG XG27UQR. Get ready to read a book!First, I'll like to list 2 disclaimers (warnings).Warning 1: If you're a console gamer who recently has a new PS5/Xbox series X and looking to buy this, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS! This monitor ONLY has HDMI 2.0. That means that this monitor is unable to play at 4K, 120hz for both PS5 and Xbox series X (Series S included). So I suggest looking elsewhere for a 4K gaming monitor that has HDMI 2.1 which is capable of 4k,120hz gaming for both consoles.Warning 2: I've just found out that I've actually overpaid this monitor unfortunately. I've paid $873 in total ($800 pricetag) for this monitor. Yet the original price of the XG27UQR is $700.. so yea... please be careful on what kind of seller your buying this from. I don't know why this monitor was $800 over a week ago and now it's $700? WTF?Anyways.. here's the pros and cons of the monitor!Pros:-Packaging is REALLY nice! Easier to remove the box and monitor!-The monitor arm is sleek looking-The back monitor looks awesome.. very "gamery"-4k gaming looks awesome-Really NICE colors! Well vibrant!-Monitor feels very fast and responsive-imo, 27 inches is the sweetspot for 4K gaming. Feels very comfortable especially with my eyes. Above that i consider a bit too big.And now.... here's the cons and the MASSIVE CONS... yea.. it gets a little worse...........-The monitor stand is simply too big. Why can't gaming companies make smaller stands? I had to replace the new stand with a cheap Amazon monitor stand and now I have more space on my desk.. hahaha.-VESA mounting.. for those who want to hang this in your wall or install in a smaller monitor stand, removing the plastics that hides the screws is REALLY HARD. The first plastic is pretty easy to remove. But the 2nd plastic piece.. it's really hard to remove it. I almost broke it too! ASUS! Make this easier for us next time!-Safe to say that USB ports are dead on arrival. For some reason none of my USB accessories work on the back USB ports of this monitor. Tested my USB accessories on my other monitors, and they all work fine! This is just disappointing and I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong. I've also updated this monitor drivers and NOPE.. still a no go.-Bezels... LMAO... ASUS... it's almost 2022. I knew what the monitor has looked like, but these bezels are something else. I was like.. "wow.. these are THICC!".And now the MASSIVE CONS!-HDROk... HDR on this monitor is TRASH! TRASH TRASH TRASH! LMAO!I don't know if my monitor is a defect, but omg.. the HDR is TERRIBLE. If you're planning to buy this monitor for HDR content, PLEASE BUY ANOTHER MONITOR! Hecc you're better off getting a 4K OLED TV! You're even better off with HDR turned off!The HDR make my screen much darker... I don't know why. And NOPE... you can't brighten up you monitor brightness in the monitor settings. Everything is literally disabled once HDR is on... like come on ASUS...-SOFTWAREAfter updating the monitor to its latest firmware, I was already seeing dark dimming's while gaming.. it's like the monitor would turn off for some strange reason....-BLACK LIGHT BLEED/IPS GLOW!Due to my ignorance, I forgot that IPS panels do in fact has some backlight bleed.. or IPS glow. I have to admit... after a few days of gaming, I still can't get over it. This monitor IPS glow is actually pretty visible while dark scenes on gaming and even on loading screens. It's actually annoying me and I don't know if i'll ever get over it since this is my main hardcore sweaty monitor for FPS and streaming games. You want IPS glow to disappear? Sure! Simply TURN ON HDR LMAO! YES! Turning on the crappy HDR removes the IPS glow but of course, everything else is darker now.All of my last gaming monitors I still currently use (TN, LED, and even a OLED) are far superior and shows very little to no glow/bleed. I'm shocked that this is able to pass the quality inspection but again.... I don't know if this is just normal for IPS monitors. Also read that it's a gamble to get a good IPS monitor overall.CONCLUSION!Overall, this monitor is awesome based on it's 4k 144hz performance and pretty much that's it....the crap HDR, USB ports dead on arrival, large bezels, the IPS glow, and spending overpriced on this monitor is actually really starting to kick me and I'm already considering returning this monitor and maybe, buy this monitor again for the cheaper price tag, or look into another brand. As a ASUS fanboy, again, This is my first time being disappointed with their products. Why spend $700-$800 on this monitor when other brands are offering 4K 144hz monitors WITH HDMI 2.1 for next gen consoles and possible better quality?????Should you buy this? As a ASUS fanboy, for the first time ever, I would say NO! Again, there are far other better monitors that offers better quality, cheaper pricetag, and of course, having HDMI 2.1. After my first few days with this monitor, it's really hard to recommend this to anybody.Again, I may give this monitor another chance simply because it's cheaper now.. but I don't know.. very likely i'll be looking for another brand!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT: Just returned the monitor after finding out that the monitor also dims while playing games....I would highly avoid the XG27UQR unless you're willing to accept that it's a lottery to get a decent quality monitor with no issues..PS... the UPS worker told me at the return station that this is the 3RD TIME she's been seeing the EXACT same monitor being return in the SAME WEEK!ASUS ROG! PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY CONTROL! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
