Leave Me Alone!: (Caldecott Honor Book) Hardcover – Picture Book, September 13, 2016

Bought this for my children on a recommendation from a friend. Glad I did. My kids have asked for it to be read at bedtime multiple times.

My granddaughter likes this book since it's a great picture book. And we laugh at the grandma that knits as much as I do. Thank goodness I don't have to go through a wormhole to knit! Cute book.

I got this for my 10 year old niece who loves to knit. It’s a cute, short, easy to read picture book. It’s way below her reading level, but the story is funny and the illustrations are fun. She loves it.

My kids and I just love this book. The precocious grandmother is such a fun character. She yells “Leave Me Alone” to her grandchildren while trying to knit them sweaters. They are messing with her yarn. Then she gets hounded by bears, mountain goats (who eat her yarn), and aliens (who have no ears). Finally she goes into a worm hole, finishes the sweaters, and steps right back into the story where it started.My youngest was 3 when we got this book and he just loved it. He asked for it every day for maybe 6 months. He loved yelling alongside the main character. And the test of a good book is I’m also ok reading it over and over and over. I mean, the book is funny. The illustrations are cool and clever. And we talked through and learned from cultural references.I bought this for all of my nieces and nephews and my kids’ teachers!

The clean art of this colorful book was enjoyable to read. At the beginning you may think of this grandmother as the "old woman who lived in the shoe" but as she journeys to find peace and quiet she steps through nature and ultimately finds it in a wormhole. Imaginative!

I absolutely ADORE this book, and am so glad I happened across it!While any knitter (or mom) can relate to the heroine's plight, I wish I could warp through space and give Vera Bristol a huge hug! Three weeks ago, before the book was published, the eldest of my thirteen children was hosting a party for my 50th birthday, requesting that gifts be directed toward sending me away for some alone-time, to knit or do whatever I wanted without being bothered.When I heard Ms. Bristol interviewed on the KnitPicks Podcast, I had to stop in my tracks and order the book --quick-- for my daughter's birthday. Now, after requiring that each of my at-home kids read the story aloud, I'm back at Amazon to order two more copies.THANK YOU for writing my life story!**Edited to add, that when I ordered two more copies for new grandchildren this Christmas, I realized this book has won the Caldecott! Congratulations!!!! You sure deserved it!

We first checked this out at the library, and had to buy it. It's simple but hilarious and the kids love it.

This book is fantastic! Illustrations are gorgeous and funny, story is simple and engaging! Great for all ages starting from 2yo!

I bought this because I enjoyed Vera Brosgol's graphic novel Anya's Ghost so much. While Leave Me Alone is a great story with some lovely illustration, it should be made clear that this is for a very different audience than Anya's Ghost. Essentially it's a children's picture book. It's a very good children's picture book, and even as an adult I enjoyed it, but I probably wouldn't have bought it had I known that beforehand.
