Color the Classics: The Art Institute of Chicago: (Adult Coloring Book)

I like this very much, its a great adult coloring book, very relaxing , great color referances. I take this on long flight and the time flys by.

Wow, so many classic works of art. I just got back from visiting the Art Institute. I’d only had a few hours there, and this coloring book is a great reminder of my visit. I haven’t actually colored on the paper in the book. instead I’ve purchased small canvasses and sketched out the works using this book as a guide. I’ll be painting on canvass. However, the paper appears to be high quality. I won’t hesitate to use it too. I highly recommend it.

In my opinion, after examining most of the great-artist coloring books sold by Amazon, this one is the very best. The line drawings are more sensitive and more detailed and generally better than any others I have seen. Uniquely, this book has a thick cardboard backing that allows one to color right in the book on one's lap - however, I prefer to photocopy the ine drawings and color on a separate sheet so I can do it more than once, if I so choose, maybe even differently. This allows one to exercise more individuality in coloring and replicating the original paintings. I think this kind of adult coloring hobby can be a great pastime for people like me who appreciate the form, line and color of great art (sometimes even the meaning) but have no hope of creating such. It might even lead to improvements in that area - (I can hope - five people in my immediate family have definite talent in this area and have worked in it or related fields professionally).

I just dont exactly know why this coloring book puts me off but it does. I have quite the collection of coloring books and even though this does contain famous art in a side to side layout, I just feel like it is missing something. I mean, I love Art. Even has pictures of what the painting looks like in real life, but there is nothing exciting about it. I was excited waiting for this to come in the mail and then it arrived, I looked through it, and was initially unimpressed. Maybe if I look back at it and find it again in my stack of coloring books I may have a different opinion but I dont know.

This is an extremely well done book with both thick cover and bright white paper. So many works to recreate! It’s my second favorite museum shop book. Most shops have gone online with coloring pages and books, so I was happy to stumble across this find! It has all the best of AIC and more. Great size- a bit long but works well with the content. Pages are one sided, easily removed. I highly recommend this book to collecting colorists

We bought this first for a gift and loved it so much bought one for ourselves too. Material feels nice, the paintings are recognizable. Really nice unique gift.

A few of the drawings are just right for coloring, but most have such tiny lines and details that it's impossible to color them in.

Received it this morning looks like a good drawing book and can't wait to get started.....I have a few books to colour some are so, but this looks terrific, I love doing people the most.... I just love this book so I am ordering another one just so as not to run out, I can colour in different colours from my first book which I have not finished yet, it is a book of sophistication with wonderful pages to colour.
