NECAPredator Scale Deluxe Clan Leader Action Figure, 7"

When it comes to NECA's Predator, I always sat on the fence. When I saw a new wave I was like, "Yeeeeeeaaaah that looks cool but y'know..." I always thought about getting into the line but my money always went elsewhere. Whether that was NECA's other efforts, or something else. Eventually I finally cracked when I saw this bad boy. He looked so cool. Bendable tentacles and removable masks are some of my favorite gimmicks so I was absolutely sold. The description for him only made me want him more. This is my first real foray into the line and I can say right now I'm impressed. But how impressed am I?The Sculpt:The details are beautiful, just as most NECA figures are these days. The scales are all there, every wrinkle, bump, and ridge are sculpted marvelously. His height is also massive. I'd guess he's around 8 and a half inches. He towers over most of my other figures and can go toe to toe with my Big Chap figure. He's huge! I love this headsculpt. I hear it's a presculpt of the Elder Predator's head and it absolutely suits this guy. He's apparently the leader of all of them and you'd believe it. The extremely furrowed brow and snarl just make him look constantly angry. It's really fitting. Not only that but the scar on his forehead is a nice little detail too. I can't say much else about the sculpt, it's really nice.The Paint:The paint for the most part here is gorgeous. The colors on him really pop, from the bright oranges of his skin to the dark metallic teal of his armor to the white of his dreads he's extremely eye catching. He has plenty of black markings on his skin too. Sadly, with this much paint detail there is plenty of paint slop. It's mostly on the netting where it's noticeable. A lot of the paint doesn't exactly line up with the sculpt on his netting. You can't expect perfection, especially at this price point.The Articulation:Man is this figure articulated! To start things off, he has a balljoint at the head which allow for a decent range of motion. His dreads will get in the way but they can be moved around. His arm articulation consists of a hinge in the shoulder, a swivel at the bicep, double jointed elbows, a swivel at the gauntlet, and a balljointed wrist. He has a balljoint at both the waist and abs, allowing for an amazing abcrunch. Finally his legs have an outward hinge, a swivel at the thigh, a swivel on the upper knee, double jointed knees, and balljointed feet. You can get a lot of poses out him. Be warned though, the swivel at the biceps and thighs were stuck on mine. It required much work to free them, along with some heat. I almost felt I might've broken the figure but I didn't, thank goodness.The Accessories:Clan Leader has a lot of accessories. First of all he has his plasma caster, which comes detached in the package. It easily pegs into the side of his armor. The mask is rad too, it looks like a crazy tribal witch doctor mask with the horns and such. It's perfect for this supposedly ancient lord of the Predators. There's even sculpted detail and some paint on the inside of it! He of course has a combistick. I don't have any of the others for comparison, but I've heard this is a new mold so I'll just assume it is. It looks cool, but I'm going to be careful with it. I wish the plastic it was made of out of was less stiff so it seemed less likely to break. Finally he comes with the main attraction, the absolutely massive tentacles! They can peg into either his gauntlets or into his upper torso armor. I'm personally undecided, both options look good. If you're looking to save space, then I'd say the torso armor is the better place for them. Even included are two tiny little pieces that peg into both of those ports, so you can make it look like they're retracted.Overall:I said it before in this review, but I'm impressed by this figure! So much so, I'm probably going to end up getting more Predators in my collection. I've even got another on the way right as I'm writing this. The only real negatives I have are those stuck joints he had. Trying to get them unstuck was nightmarish, but it all worked out in the end. If you're considering this guy, whether it's because you think he looks cool, because you want to add to your Predator collection, or you had the original Kenner figure then I absolutely suggest you get him.

Got this for my 12 year olds. He is very happy with the detail. Great value for the price!

I bought two of these. I opened one and kept the other in the box.

The sculpt and paint for this is great. I also love the new predator style over the old. Some of the joints were stuck and the belt was glued a little low leaving a gap between the waist and torso. It did have a couple issues which kept it from a 5 star but it is definitely a great item.

First time I’ve ever used Amazon & I’m certainly impressed with these folks, quality figure, quick shipping, no problems...I will certainly be hitting them up again in the future for more Predators

NECA once again did an awesome Predator figure!!! I originally ordered two figures- thinking to display one figure with all the tendrils attached. However, I'm just sticking with one figure and the tendrils plugged into the collar, like the original Kenner figure.

NECA does Predator better than anyone. Their attention to detail is second to none. The deluxe Clan Leader is a must have for any fan of NECA's Predator line. The sculpt, the paint, the articulation, the accessories... everything is on point. Well done...
