Simply Red - Home (Live in Sicily)

Excelente Concierto, para ser antiguo (2003), está muy bien grabado, muy buena calidad del video y audio...(Excellent Concert, for being old (2003), it is very well recorded, very good video and audio quality...)

Mick Hucknell's exceptional voice is like a total body massage to my ears! His performance is unbelievably perfect. As he performs each song, his love of performing the music and love of the audience is obvious. I've never seen any performer so HAPPY while performing. He is "Simply Joyous". And the fun he is having on stage is contageous. The person who spent their entire comment here selling a projector...totally missed the entire point of the concert. So sad. I am lucky to have a widescreen HDTV and Bose sound system...and he used every inch and sound available! As a side note to anyone who wondered why Mick Hucknell performed in Italy, Italy has been his BEST venue over the years. Nearly every album released has done better there than any place else. THEY love him...and so do I. His is the best voice for the past 100 years...performing live...and NEVER missing a single note. Many of my other fave groups would do well to perform ONE song without missing notes. Mick is EXCEPTIONALLY talented. His backup band/singers are also great performers. We are blessed to be able to see and hear these concerts. PS: I am very happy he recently became a dad. I'm sure it will inspire even greater music from him.

This is a wonderful performance captured in concert in a gorgeous setting outdoors in Sicily. I originally saw a shortened performance of this concert on PBS, so was thrilled to have this dvd with the entire concert, plus a documentary and two extra songs.Having been a Simply Red fan since the 80's, this is a wonderful way to experience Mick and his band in a perfect setting on a perfect night.I have always loved the way Mick owns the stage and his audience and also how tight the band is together. Sara Brown and Dee Johnson also are fantastic doing the back-up vocals.I also purchased the 25th anniversary concert, and am glad to have both. This dvd features the "Home" album prominently, mainly in the first half of the concert.For die-hard Mick fans, the "Mick Cam" is a fun featured extra, which allows you to watch the entire concert with cameras only on him!I would also highly recommend this dvd for it's outstanding production, sound, lighting, etc. If you are a Simply Red fan, this is a wonderful addition to your collection. Having never had the opportunity to see them perform "live" here in the States, this is a way to enjoy the amazing concert experience!

Simply Red - Home (Live in Sicily) I first saw this performance on DIRECT TV channel 101 -- I have always been a SIMPLY RED fan but this performance blew me away. When I found a DVD of this live performance of many of the group's (what I consider) most loved songs I didn't hesitate to buy it -- I probably should buy at least two more as I play this DVD almost every day and I'd like one for my car so I can listen while a drive. ALTHOUGH lead singer (and undoubtedly the band's musical inspiration) Mick Hucknall seems to be the star -- the musicians behind him are unbelieveable!! YOU may think I am giving this TOO MUCH hype -- but believe me -- once you LISTENED to this performance, then WATCHED it, you will understand and feel just like me. GREAT EXAMPLE for anyone under the age of 20 who weren't around when this band first starting performing and FANTASTIC for jazz lovers.

This is an excellent concert dvd. Sound is DTS quality and filming is wide-screen and first rate. The concert starts a little slow, and song selection could have been a little better. His versions of Positively 4th Street and You Make Me Feel Brand New are outstanding. In my view, his best songs are the more uptempo soul songs. Something Got Me Started here is a perfect example of this. If there were more songs like this, it would be a 5+ star concert. Still, he puts on a great show and sings up a storm. I'm sure Simply Red fans will love it.

Well, its better late than never. Just view the DVD Of Simply Red, Home Live In Sicily. I agree with Goldie comments. I love this music. At last, one can understand the words of a song. Most songs today, you can't understand what they are saying. Mick Hucknall sings perfect. Best concert I've seen in a long time. And Simply Red band is a group of the best and talented you will ever hear. All band members are the best. GREAT MUSIC. Dee, Sarah, Chris, Dave, Ian, John, Kenui, Kevin and Pete; what a band! Love a band with the numerous instruments. Flute, Saxophone, trombone, trumpet makes a great band. And this band has it all.Don't forget the keyboards, percussion, guitar, bass guitar and let us not forget the drums. Pete can sure play those drums! FABULOUSI highly recommend this DVD. EXCEPTIONAL

Although I hadn't listened to Simply Red in quite a long time, it was a great experience listening and and even better experience watching them in concert on this dvd! Even though this was an outdoor concert, the acoustics seemed to be perfect and actually sounded more like a studio recording. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was watching when he listed this video as 1star but he sure couldn't have been watching this video! This video was superb thru each and every song that Mick and his band performed!! The setting for this concert in Taormina, Sicily was also excellent and being in the Greek amphitheater even made it that much more special. I have been to Taormina before and it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I have always loved this group and first purchased one of their albums back in the early 80's. Mick Hucknall's voice has nicely matured and sounds better today then compared to earlier years. I first watched this concert on channel 101 at least eight times or more, I lost count. I was so glad to see the concert on DVD and available on Amazon. The DVD shows the entire concert. They could not have picked a more perfect venue for concert "total class." I would love to see this group live in concert and wish they would tour the United States.TerrySanta Fe, New Mexico

I'm not sure where to start. This DVD rules if you love Simply Red. Mick Hucknall and his band is at their finest. I could kick myself for not buying those concert tickets back in 2003 when this tour was here in Ontario, Canada. Now I know what I missed ... live. One of my life's mistakes, for sure!! Mick is handsome, talented, sexy, his voice is incredible! The band is fantastic too! The concerts starts off slowly and escapades into one incredible song after another. I think this has to be one of the BEST concert DVDs or Blue Rays I have bought and believe me, I have a lot of them. This does not disappoint. It's amazing!! You just can't help but smile through this whole DVD. In the second half, I just wanted to get up and dance. I love this DVD, big time. I will probably watch it at least a hundred times. haha If you even mildly like Simply Red, don't hesitate, honestly, just buy it!!!

A brilliant package of cd's and dvd's

J'avais vu ce concert quand il était sorti en 2004 en DVD et j'avais été ébloui. Je suis un grand fan de Mick Hucknall et sa bande à géométrie variable depuis les années 80 et ils venaient de sortir à l'époque ce qui reste un de leurs meilleurs albums, Home. Pas loin de la trempe de chefs d'oeuvre comme A New Flame, c'est dire...Le cadre d'abord, sublime, le théâtre antique de Taormine, en Sicile, le public ensuite, hyper chaud et prêt à faire la fête. Ensuite une bande de fantastiques musiciens, des tubes à la pelle et un Hucknall en pleine forme et visiblement heureux d'être là, presque comme à la maison (il parle un italien parfait). On tient là tout simplement un des meilleurs concerts filmés de Simply Red! J'avais quand même trouvé à l'époque que le concert, sur les 1ers titres assez calmes et intimistes, commençait un peu "mou du genou" mais j'avais compris que Hucknall, en grand pro talentueux, avait construit sa setlist ainsi: dès A new flame, le public décolle et ne s'assoit plus jusqu'à la fin! Les classiques s'enchaînent jusqu'à Sunrise (fabuleux sample de Hall & Oates, j'adore!). Le tout est magnifiquement filmé et enregistré. Dans cette édition deluxe, on trouve le DVD, le Blu-Ray et la version audio en 2 CD, le fan a de quoi faire! Un concert à savourer avant la nouvelle tournée pour 2020 avec nouvel album, Blue eyed soul: le talent est aussi de savoir durer et Hucknall en a à revendre!

great Dvd , everything about it is beautiful, the lighting, the photography, setting ,Mick is at his best, The documentary is cute but I'd like to hear something more personal. .A trip to the fish market ? I read all the reviews prior to ordering & really didn't know what to expect, even if I would get a copy that played in Canada, which it does thanks to Mike at Roundmedia
