Our cat is so thrilled with this that we are ordering a 2nd one as "backup" in case anything should happen to the original. I have it in my home office near his food and water and he scratches his face on it dozens of times a day. Once in a while, he'll arch up his back and scratch it walking through. But he clearly LOVES this product. He pushes his face into it so hard, with such a look of joy on his face that there is no doubt how good he feels about it. From a non-feline point of view, it is a bit flimsy, the pegs home out of the holes if he pushes too hard and the nonslip things on the bottom are worthless. I tried cutting a hole in the middle of the carpet and inserting a suction cup, but even an extra large one wasn't strong enough to hold it down. I now do that with my foot. I wish they had a version that had a very heavy base covered in carpet with the arch permanently attached. That would be ideal. But again, my cat couldn't love this more!UPDATE: 7/28/17. We have since learned, not to even bother putting the arch back up into positiion, our cat prefers it lying on the floor, pushed up against the wall and then pushes his neck and face down into it to rub. This is his FAVORITE SPOT in the whole house. Lying with his face smooshed against the arch brush and having his body pet... is total heaven.

Don't trust product photos... go by the reviewer photos. I wasn't sure how accurate the size was because a lot of product photos are photoshopped or for pet stuff they tend to use baby animals which can make the product look bigger. This arch is the perfect size for a full size cat in my opinion.Bristles are firm yet soft because they are so many tightly grouped together. It looks just like a toilet bowl brush... but a high quality one. My cat doesn't scratch against it... probably because it's so light at the base and doesn't "push back". I can fix that... but for now, she'll go and rub her face on it a little and bite at the bristles, which probably feels great on her gums.. I don't know... I'm not a cat. $14 wasted?? Nah.. I think even if she sometimes uses it for her teeth, thats better than nothing. If anything, I can turn this into one really bad ass toilet brush.There's a hole on the bottom to insert some catnip... I think it's stupid. Just sprinkle some on the whole thing and see if your cat falls in love with rubbing their body against it. If not, either return the product, give it to a friend, throw it in the garbage or let it hang out somewhere you know your cat loves to rub on things and see if they every change their mind.On a side note, if you buy this... it is important to know that your cat may not like it... don't come back with a 1 star review just because you cat doesn't appreciate it in all it's glory. Your cat would have been more ecstatic about the box it shipped in... they are simple objective animals and usually very unpredictable on what they like. If you are going to be upset possibly wasting $14 then don't buy this.This product is a 3 star product based on it's build and usefulness.

Please remember to think of adoption and always spay and neuter your little critter! There are too many cats out there without hopes.I feel bad for this product seeing the occasional negative review because in my experience it's great and functions exactly as intended. It snapped together very easily and I was happy to see that the bristles were semi-sturdy and brush-like rather than the firm, wiry pipe cleaner material than I thought they might be. My cat took to the arch right away, brushing her face against it for a test and then continuing to rake her sides and back against it. For the first few months that I owned the toy she also really enjoyed laying down under it, and to this day she still continues to give it regular brushes against her face. She never really used it to scratch her back but that's probably because she's kind of a small cat. She does like walking under it and arching up so that it scratches the base of her tail. She's also used the carpet base as a scratching area and, naturally, rolls all over it whenever I put catnip in the compartment at the bottom (don't put catnip on the carpet itself, your cat could potentially choke on it if she chews at the catnip).I think a lot of the reviews for this item are based on whether the reviewer's cat liked it, not based on the quality of the item itself. I guess that makes sense in a way, but since cats are so unique and finicky it's kind of unfair to judge the product based on the cat's personality. I give it five stars not just because my cat has always enjoyed it, but because it "works" as intended and has remained perfectly intact and usable since I bought it. I hope your cat likes it too!

Bought this for the cats but they won't go near it. I put the catnip that came with it on it and it made them sick and they puked for three days all over the place. I would've sent it back but I am hopeful that one day they will use it.

Our cat absolutely LOVES this. We gave it to her on Christmas Day and she played with it for ages. This is the first cat "toy" that she keeps going back to and it didn't take her long to learn how to use it. So pleased that we decided to buy this.
