earl the squirrel is worth his weight in acorns!!!! -- and gotta love earl's mommy squirrel too!!!!!!
earl the squirrel, why did you have to be not in print yet when i was a kid? -- thankfully this book is NOW in print for today's kids -- this hardcover copy made a perfect gift for a little girl who has just begun to read all on her own -- she'll be able to manhandle the book to her heart's content without her mom having to worry about the flimsiness of a paper back copy -- thanks for having this book in hardcover at a low low price, arrived nicely and quickly!!!! -- an efficient, effective bargain for sure -- although earl the squirrel is worth his weight in acorns for sure !!!!! -- especially good if the voice of earl's mom is read by someone who can do a good impression of a squirrel !!!

Cute and beautifully illustrated.
Earl the Squirrel is a really cute book about a young squirrel. His mother thinks it's high time he learns to find acorns for himself. The illustrations are darling too. This is by the same author that wrote the Corduroy stories.

WONDERFUL BOOK!!!
My granddaughter Katie LOVES this book especially the part where Earl's mother tells him she wants to speak to him. She laughs every time I read that part to her. I love that all of the illustrations are in black & white except for the red scarf! What a contrast! It really makes the book unique! A great story for every child to read!!!Everyone should have a copy of this book in their home!!!!

Not a fan of the message. It's not "sweet" like Corduroy.
Pretty illustrations but im not a fan of the message and the scolding from Earl's mother. Pretty harsh. Earl gets scolded for visiting a friend and accepting gifts from his friend. The part with the bull also might be a bit violent and scary for a preschooler.

I love the black
My 3 year old little girl adores this book. She's had me read it to her so many times that she sits and "reads" it on her own. I love the black, white and red contrast illustrations.
