LOVE THIS COOKBOOK
LIKE: over 300 pages of curry recipes. Starters, street food, authentic curries, British curry-house recipes, base curry sauces, spice mixes, and more. ONLY NEGATIVE; not many appetizer, bread, appetizer, or salad recipes, but these are easily found in other books or on You Tube. I use the book at least once a week and have learned a great deal about Indian cooking—especially the techniques used by restaurants to speed the cooking process and make very authentic restaurant-style dishes. Five stars for sure.

Gives You Universal Sauce Recipes
My husband loves this as it provides basic Indian sauce recipes you can use for multiple recipes. Many cookbooks just give you for that specific recipe.

Well worth it
Most cookbooks get a one or two recipe test drive, and when these are inevitably disappointing, it is shelved for that imaginary time when Ill get through the rest of the book. This is an entirely different breed. I've tried 10 recipes so far: 7 were incredible, three were meh, and haven't disliked even one yet!

Indian Cuisine at its finest captured in one book
A Brit who loves his curry and did something about it. Amazing recipes, beautifully captured accompanying photos. Well done Dan. Bought additional copies for my foodie kids...

Very complicated recipes
I'm a vegetarian and have a number of Indian and "international" vegetarian cookbooks featuring Indian foods. This is by far the most comprehensive curry cookbook but also has the most challenging and time consuming recipes. I bought this cookbook for my husband who LOVES curry but is just learning to cook. I returned it because it was just way too complicated. The recipes use UK metrics that are (for the most part, but not 100%) "translated" into US amounts. If you don't have a food scale, this book might be challenging to use. The ingredient lists were very long and complicated. Most recipes had a lot of complex steps (the recipe would begin with making a completely different "base curry" recipe). Anyway, not for a beginner or anyone looking to spend fewer than several hours in the kitchen.

Good
At first the recipes seem long, but once the base recipes are made everything falls into place quickly. Most importantly: the food tastes good.

Fantastic book with great recipes.
A great book with great recipes, all of which so far have been quite easy to follow. Firstly, I hate negative reviews because people discover they need indian ingredients to make indian food. People have to be realistic. It is easy to source them either in person or online (i had to drive 20 minutes to find a place but glad I did that instead of shopping online). Also, it doesn't cost as much as people think. There is an outlay but the ingredients last so when you break it down per meal, it's not expensive. I'm 6 meals in (plus sides and breads) and have only made a tiny dent in the £35 of spices and flour etc I've bought.Onto the book - I've got kids so that puts a little restriction on what I can make. Still, I have made a number of dishes and all have been really nice and straightforward. Dan encourages the reader to alter recipes to suit them and I have done this myself. The base curries are a great idea and the samosas and bhajis were enjoyed by me and my partner.I'm getting a bit more comfortable with what I'm doing now and with base curries in the freezer, making separate dishes for us and the kids should be easyI have been let down by a number of cookbooks but I do not regret this purchase. If you love indian food and want to make authentic recipes, definitely buy this book
