Thanks for checking in with us! Yes USG makes a product called the L-15 hold down clip that attaches to the back of the grid system. It doesn't pinch the tile in place, but creates a barrier to keep them from lifting up. Should be available from anyone that carries USG products. Q: Can these be put under the existing tiles so the old tile remains, but the new tiles are what is seen?

Yes you can do that in fact I kept most of my old ceiling tiles in one install I used (something like these) in ... and it worked great. Better for sound, better for looks.
