The Gamble Paid Off
I'm pretty picky about my coffee. I prefer espresso drinks and have tried lots of different beans over the years. I like to support local or small roasters but they can get pretty spendy. When I'm feeling adventurous I buy from Amazon to try something new. Very smooth, chocolate forward. Not a super strong flavor, but quite enjoyable. Definitely will purchase again.

Hard to find the flavor under all the bitter
This decaf espresso whole-bean coffee is a little too bitter for my preference. It's hard to get a good flavor when it's so bitter like it is. I tried different grind settings on my coffee grinder to see if that would improve taste, but I couldn't get it to taste any less bitter. I love that this is organic and Swiss water processed, but it missed the mark on flavor in my opinion.

Delicious
I can’t have caffeine and so it’s hard to find a good decaf coffee that tastes delicious. I found one with this coffee. It’s my favorite so far!

Slightly acidic, mildly bitter, full-bodied decaf coffee
CAMANO ISLAND COFFEE ROASTERS’s decaf whole bean coffee has a full-bodied taste with a slight hint of acidity. This is a great decaf coffee for a daily cup! This would be the best option for coffee lovers who do not want to intake caffeine including pregnant women. The Swiss water process removes 99.9% caffeine while remains the precious flavor of the coffee. I ground the coffee beans to mild fineness and carefully hand brew using a hand dripper and gooseneck kettle with 195F (90.5C) hot water. After 30 seconds of steaming, the elegant coffee aroma filled my kitchen, and when I pour hot water on top of the ground coffee, it raises up beautifully. You can also use a french press, coffee maker, or espresso machine to brew your coffee as well. You can enjoy a slightly different tastes depending on how you brew. There is no instruction on how to brew on the package, so it would have been helpful if they give us the recommended amount of water/beans. The slight acidic taste compliments with milk perfectly. I also recommend making cold coffee as the fresh taste goes nice with hot summer days. I did not feel much berries as the package states, but I did feel a hint of sweetness that reminds molasses. There is no unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth after drinking. The great quality of arabica coffee beans is proved by Certified USDA Organic. However, I personally would like to know which country the coffee was harvests from. There is no clip to seal the package so you need to seal it with a clip or transfer it to a bin.

Good For a Decaf
These whole beans from Camno Island coffee grind up into a pretty good cup of decaf, although the has that distinct "weakness" that many decafs have within their roasting range. That is, this decaf as an espresso roast is stronger than a medium-roast decaf but not as strong as a caffeinated espresso roast. Few roasters get that strength of flavor. Even though this isn't my favorite decaf, I would pick this Camano Island decaf every time over an ordinary medium roast decaf. The beans have a light shine from the oils of a dark roast, and they smell wonderful in the bag. The use-by date (the bag doesn't list a roast date) is about nine months in the future. I plan to shorten that timing since the quality of beans usually start to deteriorate about six months after roasting, probably in four month from now. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Delicious Decaf
Espresso Blend is a delicious whole bean decaf coffee. I'm not usually a fan of decaf, but it seems like brewers have gotten better at preserving flavor while eliminating caffeine. It is dark without being bitter. The tasting notes are detectable and enjoyable. I ground it in a burr grinder and brewed it in my BUNN coffee maker. The aroma is terrific and the bean are good sized and intact. For the price this is a quality shade grown coffee and I'd get it again since I'm already finishing up this bag. Best by date of 03/10/23. It would be nice to know where the beans are sourced from, but otherwise no complaints. Certified USDA Organic. ~ Kort

3.5 Stars - Taste Notes On Point, But Acidic
Camano Island did just an okay job with their decaf espresso. I opted for the whole beans so I could ground my own when I was ready. I typically drink a low acid coffee, so this roast was a punch to my gut that I truly was not expecting. The bag the beans arrived in was well sealed, but I am wondering if the ground coffee also came in the same bag because the bag did not have the ability to close back up. I keep my ground beans in a glass container in a dark cupboard, but for those people who like the simplicity of just closing up the bag, this is not an option here. The description for Camano Island says the flavor notes are molasses and berries and this is spot on. I could smell the molasses the instant I opened the bag. I brew my coffee by weight (I measure the water in ounces and the coffee in grams depending on how much I want to drink that day). The pot I brewed with Camano Island turned out fine, but I'm not sure if it was $16.99 for 12 ounces fine. My regular coffee, which is locally roasted (to me), water processed and low acid is just $13 for 12 ounces and I can usually get a better deal when they have a sale. For someone looking for true strong espresso, this is not it. Maybe regular decaf, but even then if your stomach is sensitive this is not the coffee for you.
