If you love the mountains of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, you must read this book. Then you will be so charmed, you will reread it, as I did. It is just crammed full of delightful stories and fascinating information gathered over years of research and interviews. I laughed out loud, shed a tear or two and tried to commit some of the special writings of Edie Burnette to memory so I could call them up at will. I have bought copies for all my family and friends that share my passion for the Great Smokey Mountains and the people who make it great.

I've been traveling to Haywood County for over 20 years and thought I had seen and learned most of what this beautiful area has to offer. I was mistaken! I loved the history and used this book as reference while there this fall for three months. You won't be disappointed. Go exploring!
