Quintessential F-15 Guide for Modelers
An excellent update to an essential Eagle modeler’s guide! Outstanding photography and plenty of explanations on the Eagle’s service history across the world. Especially helpful is how the guide is organized. Topics are covered in full depending on what part of the aircraft you’re looking at. This modeler’s perspective prevents having to flip back and forth in the guide.

Hyperdetailed
Although I've desperately tried and failed, to be one in the past, I'm not a modeler. Matter of fact, I actually managed to superglue a Revell F-15E to my index finger 15 years ago! Although books such as this are clearly designed for hardcore superdetailers, as someone fascinated by the inner workings of modern military aircraft, I found much to love here. Like Jake Melampy 's other books, this one is essentially a Squadron/Signal "walk around" title ratcheted up a few notches. After a brief introduction, the rest of the book presents an extremely (some might say "ludicrously") detailed photographic tour of the aircraft, focusing on all of the models used by the USAF and some of the foreign operators. The keyword is "detail," and holy smokes is there a LOT of it here. If you're a fan of the F-15, you're probably going to spend hours poring over every little detail. There are more than 1,000 full-color photographs, along with fairly in-depth captions. The "guts" behind every maintenance panel are clearly visible, you can the labels on every switch and gauge in the cockpit, and even count the number of screws and rivets on each panel. There are closeup views of everything from the canopy actuator and position lights, to the GPS antennae, ACACS inlets, ground check panel, and LAU-106 ejector assemblies. External weapons and hardpoints are also detailed, right down to the AIM-9X's arming lever and the sway braces on the wing pylons. If I have one criticism, it's that some of the photographs are somewhat soft and grainy looking. Although I can't say for certain, these images might be from the original 2008 edition. The photos in the revised "Modern Hog Guide" are ever-so-slightly sharper looking, suggesting they were shot with modern cameras. A couple of quibbles aside, this is an excellent reference, and probably the most detailed photographic study of the F-15 currently available.
