A special memory
This book is the perfect blend of information and kid friendly. My 7 yo grandson and his mom read a little at a time. This is a great mother-son project.

Mostly Kid-Friendly, Beautiful!
The book is engaging in two ways: stories that are just the right length/depth, and beautiful artwork! I bought this for classroom use with elementary students, hoping to find something interesting, but PG. This book has met that need so far!The only nude images are pages 75, 127, and 163, and they are all small images so I was able to color over them with sharpie. Content-wise, the myths I've read have been appropriate without compromising the overall idea.

Kids love Greek Mythology
I got this for my 10 year old who is very interested in learning about Mythology. I was so pleased with the book when it came. The price was outstanding and I loved the approach to the Greek Gods and Goddesses. It gave a clear picture of their roles and the illustrations were very good. Not too complicated for a young person. I know she will enjoy it.

very colorful illustrations, good simplified stories, poor handling by employees
Is a very nice looking book. I have rifled through the pages and cant wait to read. Fortunately the book itself is as nice looking as the paper cover since the paper cover arrived damaged. It has creases and folds and one cut. This is disappointing, as i usually tend to remove covers while reading, but keep them nice for display. Not Nat Geo fault, definitely Amazon's employees trying to get work done quickly.

Perfect for the curious 9 year old
My daughter asked for a Greek mythology book for Christmas. I looked into many different ones; most were pretty vague or didn’t cover the classical gods. Others were too descriptive in the “distractions” of the gods.National Geographic is something I read as a child so I was thrilled to find their take on it. It’s a massive tome. Complete with a family tree of sorts and the Roman interpretations of each god. This is by far one of her favorites as well. She Carrie’s it to school often and is quoting it to her Grandfather most evenings.Well written and easy to understand for children her age I’ve had a few parents ask where I found it. The art work is stunning; also done in the way you’d see Greek/ Roman frescos.I have a feeling that this book will be in our family a very long time.

Incredibly beautiful book
This is such a beautiful book. I read the entire thing in one sitting. The illustrations are amazing. Everyone with kids of any age needs this book in their home library. We all need to learn about all cultures and all religions and Greek mythology is something every kid should know. Also, this book is HUGE. It’s a really big lovely book with captivating illustrations. I highly recommend it.

Nice visuals. Older kid appropriate content without feeling sanitized
This book strikes a good balance with traditional myths and contextual information, but avoids the more horrific parts of the traditional stories. This is not a sanitized set of tales. There's still plenty of death and war and darkness, but the many nonconsentual romances of Zeus and others are reframed. The visuals are beautiful and haunting. This was a gift for my 8 year old who loves mythology and reference books. He enjoyed this book, reading it from cover to cover in a few days and quoting it to anyone who will listen. Age 8 is probably the youngest this would be appropriate for, but adults will enjoy it too. Table top gamers looking for creative inspiration for adventures would also enjoy this book.
