Nutritious, affordable Large Breed food
I own a finicky 4 year old male Golden Retriever. He's not your typical Golden in that he's more of a grazer than a guzzler when he eats. I had to constantly do cartwheels to get him to eat by adding goodies like cooked chicken or ground hamburger. I've tried every high end food such as Fromm, Taste of the Wild, Solid Gold, down to mediocre brands such as Iams, Science Diet, Purina Savor. None of them interested him. He'd eventually eat but never with gusto. I read the reviews about Nutro Max Large Breed with farm raised chicken & liked that the first ingredient is Chicken Meal. No corn, corn gluten or fillers. I'm thrilled to say that my dog LOVES this food. I add about a 1/4 cup of warm water over the dry food to make a sort of gravy. My dog knows when I'm mixing the food & he sits & watches me, then eats all the food, then licks his bowl. I'm totally amazed. In 4 years, he's never done this. I now feed him twice a day, 2 cups each serving. His coat is shiny, his energy is good, and best of all, his poop is solid & much smaller than ever. That tells me he's digesting well & absorbing the food because there's no unnecessary fillers. Less clean up for mom !! I highly recommend Nutro Max Large Breed. I'm sold !!

Great Food
Switched from Nutro Large Breed Adult Chicken and Rice to this, dog loves it. She switched easily with no issues, less powdery than the other one. Dog seems to be pooping more consistently now with the new food.

Best dog food
Let me start by saying I’ve been using Nutro dry and wet dog food for over 15 years and my dogs LOVE it. Nutro in general is high quality, no by-products, also great for dogs with sensitive stomachs. This particular variety is for my English Bulldog, he is not overweight and doesn’t look malnourished either. He is active and enjoys eating it. Food pellets are about the size of a penny and have a chicken smell. They do not smell bad. No oily residue and easy clean up.

Price is right for the quality
The subscribe and save Eagle Pack large breed dog food we were ordering increased in price by almost $10 a bag so I looked for another comparable brand and found Nutro Max Large breed. I liked the ingredients list, non gmo, no chicken by product, no soy, corn or wheat protein and that it does have some Glucosamine (Min.)*150 mg/kg and Chondroitin Sulfate (Min.)*350 mg/kg for large breed dogs, tho I wish it was a little higher. Our dog seems to like the flavor, he is not a picky eater. His waste seems smaller than on Eagle. So far, happy with the purchase and will continue to purchase on subscribe and save as long as the price doesnt increase significantly.

Happy dog - Happy Guardian/Camper
I feed my 2 cats and Carly (rescue dog) free range. They can eat when they want to anytime. Carly used to eat just a bit of the other American Journey salmon grain-free food then walk away but eventually and reluctantly return to finish the food. When I offered Carly this NutroMax to her - wow. She now eats all of it with vigor and stays at the feeding area to enjoy the experience. She didn’t need the grain-free food…she needed substance and flavor. This brand and flavor stays in my pantry from now on.As usual with amazon and prime membership (well worth the investment) shipping is fast and item well packaged. Needed help carrying the box from the post office to the car. The postal worker enjoyed the chance to get outside and feel the wonderful Arizona heat for a few minutes. Used to order from chewy.com but didn’t like the minimum $49 for free shipping. Local feed store gets my other business for alfalfa and grass hay so shopping local still happens.Photo of Carly, my sweet beagle/shepard mix plus my latest abstract creative masterpiece: an octopus painted on an old English saddle

Good ol' Nutro
This used to be my go-to for pet food. Eventually, it became cost-prohibitive. Now, some <cough>-teen years later, I have a new super-soccer dog with bonus GI upset and a penchant for pancreatitis!!Her former brand was good (not cheapo $5/20lb bag o mutt chow, but not super pricey, either.) The Rx dog food for her ridiculously picky tummy was (per month) about what I pay for car insurance on 3 vehicles. So was the homemade diet she would need, plus suppliments. Hard pass. So, I transitioned her to this. Once she figured out she'd either get this or starve, no more GI problems, and now she loves it. She eats less, hasn't had to make a trip to the vet for emergency reasons, her poops look better (I know... how can poop possibly look good, right?), and she's back at a healthy weight. Yay, Nutro!

Great dog food, packaged without common sense
This is our go-to dog food. Affordable, made in the US, dogs don’t complain. However, I cannot understand why it continues to be sent in the same box with other subscribe & save items that are smaller or in more fragile packages. The 35 pound bag of dog food bashes every other item in transit, resulting in broken lids on my sunflower butter, tampons scattered everywhere and general chaos. FFS, I am paying for these items, package them so they won’t be destroyed in shipping!
